MM550xd 5 doors??!!

Hello all,

I saw this army disposal mm550xd jeep just procured from the aution. I was curious to find that it has 5 doors (the middle door in the right side is false..designed to look like a door only)instead of 3 doors.there is a seat for 3 people in the middle and at the back there are two side facing doors. The legroom is very little. I thought it to be a self made design by the army but one of my friend confirmed that he had seen a similar jeep in the army near Fort William, Calcutta. Moreover the way the door is made, especially the grooves and all are identical to the factory made doors. Does anybody know about this? I am posting the pics, will post some more later on once I visit that place again,if required.

Regards
Saikat

Probably a Commanding Officer vehicle, thoughi might be wrong. They have this long history of cutting up Jeeps, Jongas, and Gypsy's to make vehicles with extra doors for Commanding officers.

I saw a similar jeep couple of weeks back in Delhi, parked outside one ministerial building in CP. It was a govt. jeep, a civilian version.

Thats one strange looking 550. Bet I bet looked bling in its time with the Brass plates et all.

Also Cup holders on a 550. Lovely !

The seating option is indeed a nice idea for the multiple 550 projects underway on Team-bhp.

Faujis man, you give them an order and they have to follow, lol. Their C.O. sab said he needed an extra door, so they got an extra door made. I mean does the C.O. get the same choices of Brand new honda's or pajero's that the state govt. have been giving to the MP's and the MLA's? The Amry deserves a lot better than these blood suckers do.(i'am sorry if someone, or someones relative is in politics. Just to let you know ,mine is too, so it goes for me too. But still i would say the same thing to them also, the army does deserve better, and i would love to see my taxes being spent for someone willing to give their lives to protect complete strangers. Ppl in politics can rather make do with an auto-rickshaw, or just stop using state machinery).

well the inactive door on the other side is surely the replica to give it a symmetrical look.

I dont see any of these MM550 CO vehicles in action in BLR.

The Blr COs use the Gypsy version with 4 working doors. Well kept vehicles with the Brass bling and a well dressed driver.

I'm not sure but I think I even remember seeing a Millitary Police Gypsy with 4 working doors.

Hello peoples.... .@BRUTUS... I agree with you. Defence people deserve far better then what they are getting. I will agree it is a CO's vechicle. that is why you see all those glass holders and everything. They have given seats on back is because when 2 officers ride then 1 officer doesnt sit at the middle row. So what i am trying to say is 1 officer drive other sits with him on the co driver seat and the Driver of the vechicle sit at the end.
