Not really, the importance of ABS on highway is paramount.

In slush you should avoid braking either with or without ABS. I said ABS is useless in slush, but not a problem. So let it be.

Now, why didn't they put rear LSD in Scorpio 4WD? Thar has it.

deep slush driving on some of the estates where ive lived - low ratio, 4WD, low gear, slow driving, try not to fiddle with the wheel too much or one could get bogged down badly. and yes, as far as possible no braking because in the old jeeps the wheels would simply lock and then, you just might end up slipping off the road into some deep chaos.

both hands firmly on the wheel please since trying stunts with a 4WD either in slush or whilst clambering over rocky ground and NOT paying required attention while doing so, could very easily end with one breaking one's thumb or finger, just in case it gets caught in the steering wheel - pretty dangerous.

my dad taught me a lot about deep slush driving though we did get stuck a few times and had to get the estate tractor to pop up and pull us out.

good learning though - most importantly, to have a healthy respect for nature, the conditions in which one is driving, and the fact that one is simply piloting a machine made of steel, held together by wire, powered by diesel and electricity and shod with rubber. - keeping these few things in mind in order to maintain one's perspective, one would but naturally be prudent in one's behaviour...:)

I was checking with SKS today (one of the Mahindra dealers in Bangalore). They do not seem to offer extended warranty for both 4wd and AT. Doesn't make sense to me. Anyone else heard otherwise about these models ?

This is true about the 4x4. The warranty is less than the original and extended warranty is not offered. This makes no sense from a consumer perspective.

Guess the warranty offer is due to the fact that M&M know that the guys who buy the 4x4 will 'rinse' the vehicle and start claiming parts before the first service itself :D

Yup. It gives prospective buyer the feeling that even Mahindra doesn't trust some of their products enough to give extended warranty

I booked my mhawk 4wd today. Checked with the dealer in Hyd and he said extended warranty is available for 9999 INR.
BUT, In his standard pricing list he had listed rockey biege and Java brown also as colours available in 4WD - so I wasnt convinced. Made him call the Mahindra folks and then they reconfirmed on warranty. May be it will all change in 6 weeks time when I get the vehcile. :eek:
4wd may have some logic - but why no ext-warranty on AT?

6 weeks is the delivery period for 4WD scorpio?? this is where mahindra loses to tata.

Fingers crossed, I hope my case doesnt turn out to be a bad experiment given that I only know of one team-bhpian who has ordered this before me - and no reports from him on this forum post delivery.

The manner in which they handled it inspired no confidence. the sales guy spoke to regional mahindra person in Telugu for 5 minutes (of which I understood nothing) and then said, yes its available. I will double check with scorpioline tomorrow

4-6 weeks. You see unlike Tata they may very well be doing QC at each stage rather than handing over vehicles for beta testing to customers clap:

IF M&M goes at this pace then this would be a big deterrant for most guys to buy a mahindra 4wd!! Most of us can wait for 2 weeks not for months together. Many sell thier cars and make down payment and going without one for 1.5 to 2 months is crazy. Only brand loyalist can go that far

Scorpio 4wd available only in Black/Black-Interiors and White/Beige-Interiors. No extended warranty for Scorpio 4x4. According to SKS (Mahindra dealer), they called regional office and confirmed that there is no extended warranty for 4wd.

In Bangalore both Safari and Scorpio 4x4 have 4 weeks waiting or so the dealers say (Prerana for Safari and SKS for Scorpio)

4 weeks for the safari 4x4? i thought it was available off the shelf.

Black and white were the only two colours on offer when I booked, and I believe it's the same now too. My wait period was 10 weeks, and I am getting the car now thanks to the intervention of my brother, with this sticker on the windscreen.

Yep, 4-6 weeks was what I was told in the beginning too.

Nope, even the 2.6 CRDe 4WD is not available off the shelf.

You had me worried with no news coming as you were expecting it in September. 10 WEEKS !!! I guess I will have to start finding Mahindra contacts to put pressure for delivery within 4-6 weeks. Lost enough weight cycling my Bianchi.

And thanks for clarifying the extended (and FREE) warranty part - I will try and home it in with my dealer.
