AWESOME...

Whats happening to the MM540/550's in India. They get better each day.

Its loaded with the right stuff, whats missing is a nice Winch.

Ooo, nice pics Vijay. Especially like the color and the snorkel. Could you post some pics of the interiors too? - Steering wheel, dash board & seats.

I recently got a 1983 MM540 and am planning to restore it. Looking for ideas and inspiration.

Cheers.

Very neat looking MM540, it's got the right mix according to me.

Will post more pics by saturday

Very nice MM and loaded to the gills. The snorkel looks nice. was this fabricated here or was it bought? Would like to know the details of the snorkel

One of the best looking MM540. Superb. Very nicely done vehicle. Snorkel gives a nice look to the Jeep. Water tank , solar panel, Refrigerator ????

My first impression was - Is this a NGCS XD? Later close look and narration by you revealed the facts. Nicely done up jeep. Looks rugged. Few things you should get rid off soon is-

1. star sticking on wind sheild- (doesnot convey any message)
2. The plastic part on door. Spoils the flow of door line. Plus it looks confused. This is not a Pajero isnt it?

Things to add-
1. skid plate
2. Power steering from Bolero
3. Winch (if budget permits)

Best part is yur nicely finished snorkel. Great job overallclap:

The snorkel was fabricated in bangalore....

A full 4 STAR general from HQ1 in T-Bhp!! (the 4 stars should be in the centre of the windscreen and change the HQ1 to GHQ)

all hands for the General and his JEEP!clap:

dude just to give it a final touch, get a camouflage netting for the jeep!

Wow VJ, great looking MM you got there! Would like to see interiors buddy.

Liked the tyres.. Similar to what I have seen on the Army vehicles! How much did they cost?

Thats a neat restoration man. Thats a real stunner on road. How are her off road capabilities?

Guys,

Thankyou all for your views...

To quickly answer some of your questions

1.I will post pics of the interior by Saturday as I havent taken any yet
2.The tyres are MRF Sandgrip 7.50X16 on Scorpio 16" rims
3.I have never used her in any serious off-roading and dont intend to as I love her too much to put her through any gruelling terrain.I have taken her to different jungles in the south and through some very steep ravines, marsh land and steep hillocks. She responds beautifully.
4.I camp quite a bit for 3 to 4 days at a stretch and many a time have had to drive 25 to 30 kms just to replinish drinking water.Hence the need for a water tank, solar panels so that I dont have to start my engine to charge my laptop, camera, cellphone etc.The generator to provide electricity for the lighting around the camp. or if the solar panels dont get sufficient light due to foilage.
5.The plastic panel on the door, yes does look out of place...but lets me have a smoke when its raining without having to worry about water dropping in:).
6.The power steering is on the agenda but not in the immediate future.
7.Please let me know as to wher I could procure the skid plates and the camouflage netting for the jeep.I am in the process of making a net with nylon rope and green canvas. It would sure save me a lot of trouble and lead time.

Most of my ideas are drived from looking at various landrover defenders on the net. These beauties come equipped for a world tour and will give you a lot of ideas on mods. to the jeep

Regards,

Vijay

Loved the way you have been using the awesome vehicle. And you are more than right about the Landys, really suitable for the purposes mentioned.
