Is this true Spike/ Behram sir? I have seen some off road videos in M&M international website where Bolero camper 4wd had solid axle. Is Nepal's Bolero camper using MDI 3200 TC/ NEF 2.5? |
Vinod, it is true. Actually, both engines are available.
The MDI 3200 TC is not available in Double-cab though (not sure why).
NEF is available in single and double cabs. Called the Bolero Pik-up.
Engine:
Type : NEF TCI - 4 stroke, 4 cylinder, 2498 cc Turbo
Power (hp@rpm) : 100hp@3800rpm
Torque(Kgm@rpm) : 24.5@1800
@Arka airbags were introduced Monkeys of years back when did they start coming into road cars in a regular manner? Also it has been mentioned time and again that the vehicle displayed at the auto show was a concept and not the final intent one, atleast i can say that BOM has never been quoted as a reason for not doing anything. One of our team members owned a RCL, a CJ340 some time back, not now though
@72 bullet had you told me 3 years back that "Bolero comes with a SFRA with 53" that would have been news to me

Well,
I think now it will become difficult to justify IFS for Thar. So it is clear that IFS was chosen to please 2wd customers more than 4wd ones. If this is true then fair enough- No complaints!
Just one request- Give 4wd versions with solid axle leaf spring just as you do with Invader and Bolero. We all would be happy!
In fact so much of resistance wouldn't have come if IFS was chosen for Bolero VLX 4wd, but considering what Thar aims to be it needs solid axle on 4wd versions!
@ 72 bullet
One more quick question- Does Nepal's Bolero double cab have full floating rear axle? What ratio?
@vinod: i don't think your request is even an option for M&M (solid axle) :)
What happened to new set of pictures & update over Thar RHD assembly lines....

1) The Thar Does not need a Solid Front Axle as it can do almost everything in Totality in 2WD
2) THAR IS ESSENTIALLY A SCORPIO.
And don't call me SIR JI. |
Not Again ..NO :deadhorse

1 complaint - Lets reduce cost:
Take off the 4wd, TC, Differentials etc etc and sell the vehicle bling for 7 lakhs!!!

Hi Spike
Why isn't the SFRA on the THAR being changed to FFRA? (Y/N)
1) BOM
2) ARAI
3) CMVR
Can I safely say, that the M&M Thar is a Scorpio with a MM540 body shell, designed, by people who never owned a MM540 or a NGCS MM550XD or a JEEP(Bought it off-the shelf/second hand) who also claim they are avid off-roaders/jeepers.
But I guess the above is the same with most companies......the designing bit.
So this Thar is not for the JEEPers, designed by JEEPers, from the JEEPers.
It is a typical M&M Product, as they have no competition in the 4wd segment, they will give what they want.
Regards,
Arka

?? don't really get what you're saying. The question is that if M&M is so much into standardization, why is there SFRA and FFRA for the 53" Axle?
@vinod It's semi-floating. Don't know the crown and pinion ratio. Sorry.

It is very clear that it is not built as an OFFROADER. A scorpio with MM540 body. thats it. It is just they have some resource left and do a mix and match with it to make a new product.
We have IVECO Massif which is being tested for Euro5 market. It has
front solid axle with leaf spring.
@Arka you guys will get what you want (up to some extent, not fully though), wait for some time

And the point of this is??
If the Thar is not going to cut it as an off-roader, why should anybody on this forum wait for it and even think of buying it?
What does it have on the MM540 besides highway cruisability?
Members on this forum have modified their MM540s to be more capable, powerful and faster than the Thar is going to be.
OT: LOL who's waiting many have started booking Gypsy's and delivery's are on right now :p
But seriously i think we should now wait, wait for the product to come out and do TD's, then comment. Right now discussion is going absolutely nowhere!
LOL: I already have a gypsy and it will do rings around the THAR [psssst...lets start a controversy]..
And it has AC, Buckets seats, Skid Plates, etc etc..

Hi Spike,
What is that extent?
And your statement reflects Mahindra & Mahindra's philosophy, best --
To Some Extent (, not fully though) =
HALF MEASURES.

Arka

Does a more powerful MM540 exist which is faster than Thar? Who's vehicle is that?
To be fair to Thar at least in this department i don't think there is any MM540 on Forum which is faster than Thar. If you are talking about Arjun rudras vehicle then it almost costed him as much as a new Scorpio! Plus it cannot boast the stability of Thar being a SPOA.
Common guys don't rob Thar of its On-road abilities at-least!:D
@headers- Your Gypsy is superior and is built over years of hard work.It can do rings around any thing why Thar? (Nice way to kill the controversy no :-P...LOL)
p.s- Now would you pay 6 lakhs plus for a new off roader with compromised off road capabilities and enhanced on road abilities?- Its entirely a personal call!
