We've got so much great content, and the Support Team is always looking for the most informative, interesting and enjoyable posts to highlight on the Team-BHP Homepage, Hot Threads list or social media pages - so that readers don't miss out.


Currently we come across great content in a variety of ways:
• Reading threads that interest us
• Daily screening of every new thread created
• Members highlighting good content they come across (via Reported Posts)
• Distinguished BHPians highlighting noteworthy content in their private section

However, there are still a few awesome posts that fly under the radar at times.

So we decided to harness the information contained by our existing 'Thanks' system as another avenue to highlight appreciated content... just in case any of the methods above missed it!

Although this was originally intended for our internal use only, we quickly saw that it had the knack of pointing out awesome content, and it was a cool way to discover interesting posts to read (in addition to New Posts / New Threads / Hot Threads & Subscriptions). So we added some more features and are sharing it here for everyone to use.

Thanks Analytics: Top Thanked Posts

...and it can also be accessed via "Top Thanked" on the Forum nav-bar. (More > Top Thanked, in the case of mobile).


Results are grouped into the following lists:
• Hidden Gems: Highly thanked posts on later pages of old threads
• Top Thanked in 24hrs: Of all the posts created in the last 24 hrs
• Top Thanked this week: Of all the posts created in the last 7 days preceding the last 24 hours
• Top Thanked this day last year: An interesting look back at what was hot 365 days ago
• Top Thanked of All Time: The posts that clearly resonated the most



NOTE: The desktop version shows a few more columns of data than the mobile version.

Also, note the addition of an easily accessible link to "My Profile" on the Mobile skin.

Cool feature that !

Gives a good idea of posts that members have found to be of value, and one can go to these directly while skipping the general comments.

A suggestion/question: Is it possible to get a larger list in each section ? Example: the Hidden gems section has a list of 10 such posts. Is it possible that, if that title itself can be made as a linky, and by clicking this link, it can open a larger list of such posts ?

Given the fact that Team-BHP is a platform/community anyways, it makes sense to include features that are prevalent & meaningful on other platforms also.

An immediate direct effect is, folks who aspire to be in this 'Hall of Fame', will need to contribute top-class content!

A suggestion - is it possible to include "top thanked" as per different sections of the forum/ per the content (Travelogues, What Car, Technical Stuff etc.) in addition to just the timeline view (yesterday, last week etc.) like it is being done presently?
This content-wise 'top thanked' view might help a reader to greatly appreciate the best content that appears in the section rather than just looking at the past timeline.

Thanks for decluttering the threads, when threads grow (like XUV7OO did), it demands a great deal of patience and time to go through each post and see if it 'add value' be it at a minuscule level.

Few features you may want to consider in future.

- the ability to unroll such posts within a thread so that a quick glance gives plenty of information (similar to unroll bots in Twitter)

- the ability to flip through all photos within a thread and jump right into the post if a picture is of some interest.

- the ability to subscribe to keywords across the forum

Great feature! Thanks for implementing this. Actually I noticed the new menu item just now and was going through the results and thought how I missed this. Then I saw this thread!

I was hoping to see more of the results , may be a "Show more" link.

Absolutely, and this will be one of the first changes we will make when updating the Thanks dashboard.

Am thinking of including a section filter menu like this at the top of the page. The default will be "All sections". When you select a specific sub-section, all the lists below will update to show threads only from that sub-section:


Actually V.Narayan had suggested the same thing as well.

Spot on!

This is something I would like to see for mega-threads. A "Summarize" button. It is something we do have on the roadmap, though it's a bit of a complex beast. However, two foundational pieces are now in place (Infinite Scroll + Thanks Analytics).

Some newer forum softwares do have this built in, though I forget the terminology they use.

Spot on again.

I would like to hugely modernize our Photo Gallery, and then integrate it into threads.

Clicking a button like "View Images" on the top right of the thread would pop-up a gallery of thumbnails in the thread, and clicking on one would enlarge it, and give to the option to visit that post.

Right now the hacky way to achieve a similar result is visit the Photo Gallery and enter a few keywords from the thread title into the search box.

Hmmm... Good one too. Have briefly thought about it in a few aspects (Forum tags, Newsletter focus, Push Notifications, etc). Will give this some more thought.
