This was Hitler's retreat in the Bavarian hilly region known as "Berghof".It was ruined during the World War II by the Allies' bombing. There is a debate as to whether this should be preserved.
Four cars including one an Opel Kadett can be also sighted rotting here.

:OTAFAIK, the place has been eradicated from the face of this earth immediately after the war.
There exist COLOUR photos AND films of this place taken before WWII ended, interesting to see all those characters in colour, Hitler, Eva, the dog, and other Nazis.

The place "Berghof" is not totally annihilated. A wall exists here on this location and nearby up the mountain, there is the "Eagle's Nest" which was the "tea house" of Adolf Hitler, now turned into a cafe, restaurant and bookshop.
There is a debate as to whether the ruins of Berghof need to be preserved or not.

This link reveals the sad plight of an old car museum in Oregon, US of A in a small ghost town that has been neglected. The cars parked there are under attack by pilferers, for whom the car trims are the prime targets.

Hi,

This person takes eccentricity to an all new level;

Another link to a site featuring (62 pictures) great American cars of the 1940's, 50's, 60's and 70's rotting and likely to be auctioned as donor cars. The venue is Palmyra, Pennsylvania where the auction is scheduled for 19/11/2011.
Its a pity to see many of these which have at least been saved from the junkyard. Maybe some will be restored and some will certainly go as donor cars as there's nothing left to restore.
Its a treat to view the pictures on the link.

Saw this one which shows many Morris Oxfords rusting in the scrapyard/s. A Wolsley or two and an Austin Somerset can also be sighted besides some other cars.

Three years ago, I moved in to a large property that was once an ancestral home. The once homestead has a livestock barn with chicken coop etc. and the whole place was littered with farm equipment. It was an antique collector's paradise since the property was almost frozen in time.
The owners were cleaning up the pole barn where I saw a beautiful 1974 model of 240D bogged in the mud nice and deep. Apparently it was so buried that there was no other go but to bring a huge fork lift and drive it right through it to dislodge it and put it on a tow truck.
It was a very sad sight to see an otherwise beautiful machine be so mercilessly destroyed.
The reason for bringing this up is because I was wondering how different the situation would have been perceived in India.
There are still 3 more vintage trucks on the property. But there is no way any of that is going to see any restoration since it is on a hilly slope and a cluster of trees have grown around it.
Attaching a picture of one of them. Will try to put up picture of the other two once the uphill path gets cleared.

As promised, pics of the other two Chevy trucks on the property where I live. Had to wait for the snow that was on ground to thaw and also the trail to be not so slushy and slippery before I could go there and take pics.
In fact one of the trucks used to be performing as a snow plow.

Mods - please feel free to move my posts to a more appropriate thread if it does not belong here.

I read this article the other day and thought of sharing it here.

This warehouse is a treasure house of vintage cars, apparently 180 cars are lying there dying a slow death.

Such a pity to see a great car like this 450SEL 6.9 lying neglected on a street corner
