How nice, a Marin! These are direct imports from USA, so must be expensive. Is this the Series 2 frame, or series 1? Please share details :)

Yes you are right, this is a Series 2 frame and direct import, box packed from the US. Most major Indian cities have one or two Marin dealers. This one costed me INR 29.5K post discounts. For further details please refer my message #3627 on this very thread below:

The bike is really solid and the hydraulic breaks are super sharp

Its a 2019 model Ceepo Mamba with all mechanical ultegra setup and 105 R8000 pedals.

Ceepo are a specialist triathlon bike manufacturer of Japanese origin. The Mamba is an all carbon frame. What makes it unique as a product is that while it sports road bike like handle bars, the frame geometry is like any other tri bike. I do plan to use it with aero bars full time. Advantage is it adds the comfort of road bike handlebars but with the frame still giving a tri bike geomtery. To the best of my knowledge this is the only bike that officially gives this combination. Their other frames (aside from the Stinger which is UCI legal) are all proper conventional tri bikes styled aerobar / handlebar combination (see katana, venom etc).

I have currently put my old Syntase C3 aerobars for now but will most likely move it to a more adjustable profile design option once I do my bikefit.

Release the pressure on pedal for a few seconds while you change gears. You have to keep peddling, but don’t exert much force. This helps to shift gear easily without that heart breaking feeling.

Definitely an improperly tuned gear can have issues with smooth shifting. You can refer the below tutorial and do the tuning, if you are a DIY person. You can rely on all their tutorials.

The geometry is unique indeed for a road bike. Do you feel better power delivery in the aero position compared to your road bike?

Track & Trail trades in your old bike. I was offered this Cannondale in exchange for my Speialized and 17K cash, which I rejected outright.

A very delayed update on the subject. Soon after, I went ahead and bought a Scott Sub Cross 40 (With Suspension!!). Over the past 9 months, I've fallen head over heels in love with this sport. To me , Cycling is very much akin to meditation. Looking inside, conversing with oneself and generally at peace with the world.
The bike has been performing extremely well. I guess I made the right choice. Although there are times I contemplate shifting over to a Roadie (especially when guys on road bikes zip past me in a jiffy on the highway), I still haven't given it much of a thought.
I have done a couple of century rides and quite a few 75/80 ones. My first BRM is around the corner. The Delhi 200 km brevet on 22 June. So gearing up for it by cycling at night and adjusting the biological rhythm since it is a night brevet. Chances of bumping into any team bhpian in the event?

Am trying to buy a cycle for commuting to office daily - about 6kms one-way. Combination of smooth and slightly uneven mud roads.

Some tenets I have are: I don't want it to be complicated to maintain (don't want to give it for "servicing"), least chance of theft (no expensive bikes), study build quality.

Some bicycles I shortlisted:
1. Btwin tilt 120 [foldable - so I can keep it in my room and in my office, not sure about build quality]
2. Hercules roadster [pau-wala cycle - extremely sturdy, punctures are an issue - uses old-style woods valve]
3. A fixed gear cycle - Firefox flip-flop

Anyone can share their experience with any of these cycles would be very helpful to me to make a decision.

Also, has anyone tried to install Tannus airless tires on their bikes? Or have used shaft-drive bicycles? Want to get rid of two common problems - punctures and greasy chain.

Superb and congratulations! The Sub Cross is a very capable bike. A friend rides it here and does some good speeds on her (though it is a rigid fork version).

All the best for your first BRM. Ride it strong coz you always remember your first BRM! And in this weather, a night BRM is ideal.
