It's not a training software, it's a small unit by Kinetic, attached to the Kinetic fluid trainers using which you can get the details onto the mobile app about rides status, like distance, time, speed, cadence and power. The rides are logged and it's easily synced with Strava and all. The unit uses Bluetooth for comms to the mobile app and it's easy to use. I am using it at least for last few years and am happy about it.

I didn't quite say it right. What I meant was since you have a smart trainer, you could spice it up a bit with one of the umpteen training software out there like Zwift, Trainer Road, etc. which have the ability to control a smart trainer via Bluetooth or Ant+.

I think I get it now. What you're saying is this is a 'transmit only' unit and can't be controlled electronically.

I needed this! The Upstand is interesting. Magnetically held in place, and you need to take it off during carriage. Thanks for the image.

It's mostly the clunk mountain bike ones that are a bit of an eyesore, which are available.
I've seen some by SKS & others by Fezla but they're very difficult to come by in the US.

Any ideas?

I'm in Washington DC right now and there's a store in Arlington (Spokes Etc.) that has all different versions of the SKS mudguards (including the Raceblades for roadies).

I have a specialized Tarmac SL2, the one with the Sora groupset.
I plan to buy the Triban RC 520 and interchange the groupset with my Tarmac.

Can you guys share your inputs on
* Is this a good idea ?
* Would I have to change the wheels on my Tarmac to make this work ?
Any inputs would really help.

Posting here after a while, I just started out riding again after a long 5-6 year gap.

My 2010 Orbea Sate was in perfectly good spec condition, hardly used and was stored well.

I got a full strip service done from Cyclotech (in Wakad, Pune). AS the days passed, the enthusiasm about cycles was rekindled, and the only thing I had in my mind is to upgrade parts, or buy a new bike.

I was clear that I dint want to ride hardcore trails or mountains. I wanted to ride on the road, do some tricks and jumps. I also had a fixed budget, and considering how expensive good road bikes are these days, I decided to upgrade parts.

But as usual, things dint go as planned. In a good way though.

I got in touch with my old riding friends to look for nice bits, and soon my fixed budget was blown away to smithereens.

So here is my bike now, with a list of specs and mods done.

Im quite happy with how the 'hybrid' turned out. The tyres are low rolling resistance, fast and grippy, the front fork offers truly 'plush' damping, the saddle and suspension seat post are quite comfortable and the wide handlebar enables good handling.

Im glad I went down the upgrade route, my road bike purchase can wait for a while.

Depends on the current wheel design of Tarmac, I would say. Mostly this wont be possible without changing the wheels, then in that case, why not using the RC wheels also on the Tarmac?

For Tarmac, Sora Groupset must be 9 speed cassette for the rear wheel.
And for Triban RC, 105 Groupset, must be 11 speed cassette for the rear wheel.

In order to accommodate 11 speed (additional 2 rings on the cassette) it need that space and clearance on the hub. Sometimes the wheels would have the space already and manufactures use spacers to install a lesser speed cassette on a wider hub, so first check that out on the Tarmac.

Thank you, I did think of using the RC520 wheelset along with the groupset, I am worried the heavy wheels may ruin the Tarmac's ride.

One of my other experienced friend also mentioned the same thing. If this is the case I may just buy the RC500 then :)

But why? Do you need a new bike or a new groupset for the Tarmac? The cost of a new 105 grouppo + the cost of rebuilding your existing wheel with a new 11 speed hub is way lesser than buying a new bike with 105 parts. Maybe you want to own two road bikes. But even then all this swapping business is not worth the hassle IMO.

Yes sir, you’re right, I was hoping to use the RC for commuting to office also.
But have decided against it now.

Hello Everyone,

It is been a month now on my hybrid bike and clocked around 650 KM. I got an insurance policy yesterday and will use my bike for commute from this month onwards.

Also this has spurred my interest in road bike. Do you think it is too soon to consider a road bike ? What sort of conditioning should I have to consider buying a road bike. Also how to go about trying a road bike ? I have never driven one around.

Has anyone here owned or owns a Bianchi ? Planning to pick a good endurance bike with a budget of about 70/80k. Was initially thinking of getting the Triban RC 520, but Track and Trials have a good offer going on a Bianchi Via Nirone 7. Just thought would post in here and check for any suggestions or recommendations regarding the Bianchi.

Outside of decathlon, this was a very well respected bicycle back in 2010-11 when I was an active cyclist. Except for price / performance vs decathlon, I would buy this in a heartbeat if I was in the market again.
