Any whereabouts/findings of the vehicle which hit you?
Sorry to hear about your friend.

The only thing that the cops could determine was that it was a 2008-2012 Ford Mustang, based on the side view mirror that had broken off complete when I hit the car. Other than that, since it was a deserted stretch of road, there were no security cameras or traffic light cameras. I do have Cycliq front and rear lights with cameras but I used them only for commute rides due to battery life. So, I did not have them on that night. For all my future rides, I am going to hook them up to portable batteries.

Good point. My riding friend and I both had red lights at the rear of our bikes (one flashing, one steady), we had bright white lights at the front, and were wearing reflective vests with reflective ankle bands. And we were on a straight stretch of road too!

Usually drivers stop after an accident but maybe this driver was not in a state to stop and be questioned by authorities?

I have a few friends in India who cycle regularly. I don't think I am that courageous.

Shoulders are complex joints. Did you get it looked at?

Thanks! All my medical expenses were covered by my car insurance. I didn't put in a claim for my bike as it was 5 years old and there are parts of it that I can reuse for the next one.

Glad to hear that you are back on your feet. Not requiring surgery is a boon as that would have taken more time to recover. Take care and ride safe.

Good God! That's quite a lot you went through. I am glad that you are recovering well. Do take care while riding and I wish you a speedy recovery back to doing long rides on your new bicycle.

Did the police catch hold of the motorist?

What a terrible ordeal that was Amitoj! As someone who almost always rides solo, it is situations like these remind me how invaluable a riding partner can be when something untoward happens.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, back to being on the saddle. Looking fantastic riding the new(?) red Cannondale btw.

Thanks. Yes, I have heard that spinal surgeries are specially troublesome and can have a lifelong impact on quality of life.

Thanks. I followed up with the police a couple of times. They were not very optimistic of catching the culprit. I dont know if the insurance company did any follow ups on their part. I am not very optimistic though. There were gunshot victims being admitted to the hospital the night I was there. So, I guess they have bigger fish/culprits to catch.

Thanks! And good catch! It is Cannondale SuperSix Evo that I bought couple of years ago. These days I have been ogling at the new Specialized Roubaix. The bike that crashed was a Specialized too and I am hoping to avail their 20% discount on new bikes as part of their Assisted Replacement scheme.

Re: The Crash and Recovery as a Cyclist

Man the hit and run cases suck. I am glad you recovered and are back on saddle already! Some days are not just yours. Imagine the coincidence of not carrying cameras and getting hit on the same day :|

Nice new ride though, I have the same one in team replica colors (minus Hollowgram wheels) and amazes me how comfortable it is for a pure race bike.

I bought the bike from TheProsCloset.com and came with those wheels. I do need to take it for a second, more professional bike fit though. I just have not been able to ride it for more than 2 hours.

Yesterday I went for a 25 mile ride on the bike. Overall the ride went well, but towards the end the bumps in the road seemed a lot bigger.

For whatever it's worth, I changed the Prologo saddle with titanium rails (came pre installed) to one with carbon rails and it upped the comfort level by a notch.

Truly frightening experience. Thankfully you’re better now. I admire your courage and inner strength. And I wish you first class 100% recovery and the physical and mental strength to continue your cycling.
