Well the one thing which determines everything.
Size of my wallet : 8 lakhs

Note: any car which is manufactured after 2005.

I think Civic would be a leading contender. Only that I am not sure if Civic goes 9KM to a litre in the city. Else it would have been the obvious choice.

What about the Honda accord? The one which delivers 221 bhp of power.Do you think that's a good buy.:)

* performance
This is my first priority.Any car which covers the 0 -100 mark in under 10 seconds is most welcome.
* Control
What is performance without control.
* A car which comes equipped with decent features.
* Reliable
Would like to have a car which would be reliable. I really don't wanna waste time paying my repair bills.
* mileage
Anything greater than 9kmpl ( city ).

May I suggest the Punto sport? I think it meets all the criteria you have mentioned here. Not too sure about the reliability part, owners may be able to advice you on that. But I don't think there would be too many complains in that regard.

A nearly new Honda City or a new Honda City corporate will be reliable, fast and fun.

Actually the punto and linea were initially on my list but since I wanted an extremely powerful engine like the accord,cruze,superb,laura etc I chose not to go for the linea or punto.
Note : The linea t jet is powerful it's just that i want a much powerful engine.:)

Skoda Superb (previous generation) - both v6 petrol as well as the diesel were extremely powerful. And of course the Octy vRS/TPi.
2005/6/7 models are available at true VFM levels.

These cars have been shortlisted
1.Honda accord
2.Honda city
3.skoda superb
4.skoda octavia
5.Honda civic
6.Skoda laura
Anyways thanks a lot for your valuable suggestions.

That sounds comprehensive. Out of all, I would say the Accord and Superb would be rated highest in terms of performance, owing simply to their bigger engines.

Haven't driven the Superb, but the Accord is, in one word, a beast. Floor the throttle in 2nd or even 3rd; the feeling of getting pushed back into your seat sometimes tends to even frighten you!! clap:

I guess accord is the best option. Being a product of Honda, I hope it would keep my bills low.
Skoda was actually my favourite but having heard that its after sales service is terrible ,I thought of going the Honda way.

You talked about the need for a reliable car, that would be economical to maintain. Owing to that, you should strike off the Skodas from your list.
But if you can agree to buying a used European car(there are many on this forum , who swear to never do it in their lives!), a 3 Year old Laura TSi would be fantastic.

In that case forget about 9kmpl. Be happy with 6 or 7 (depending on the city traffic and how you drive) and you can get an Accord or a Superb.

You can get a 20-30k kms done Laura tsi is about 8 lacs which would be fun. The Superb previous gen would have expensive parts.

Accord V6 is great, the fuel economy is low, and check if the gearbox suits your driving style. The Civic is a great choice, except not as quick as the others mentioned. It goes without saying maintenance for these will be lower than the Euros.

Thing with an Accord is, driven sedately, it can give 9 or close to it. Ours does.
6 - 7 is normal though.

This or Civic, and I say this purely because of the cheaper maintenance and dealership factor. Actually, the Civic would be better FE than Accord for lesser performance. Fair balance, I would say.

Yours is a 2.4 m/t I'm guessing. The V6 wouldn't give 9, not even on Goa roads, but I will be really surprised if yours is a V6.

Guess its just the accord then. Found out a lot of accord's in the classifieds.Now it's buying that beauty and sending it to Pete's.
By the way thanks for the suggestions.
