Requesting advice for ZEN's ICE Upgrade - Phase 1

Seeking advice on upgrading the current setup:

1. Car: ZEN, bought recently from Maruti True Value

2. Current setup: Blaupankt Cassette player + 4 JVC speakers

3. Budget:
Phase 1: 3.6K (Have a credit balance of 3.6K which I can claim from the company. So 3.6K fixed, not less, not more)
Phase 2: 8-10K (In another 2 weeks)

4. Do you drive most of the time or is it chauffer driven?
Driven by my wife.

5. Your Music preferences (Genres, favorite artists, etc.):
POP, Hindi&Tamil movie songs.

6. Are you ready to sacrifice your boot space/modify door panels? :
Two JVC speakers are already mounted on MDF board in the boot area.

Additional Info:
- The rear speaker installation is pathetic - lot of rattles
- HU defintely needs to be replaced, maybe in Phase-2, preferably with steering mountable remote (am I asking for too much?)
- Front speakers also do rattle

Was thinking of replacing the speakers for now and replacing the HU later.
I don't think we need amplifier / sub.

Please suggest, friends.

You need not change the rear speakers for the time being. What speakers do you have on the parcel shelf - 6.5" round or 6x9 ovals? Stopping rattling is a matter of locating the loose screws and tightening them.

The most significant change will come by replacing the front speakers with components. But, 3.6K will not suffice for that - you will need at least 5K. Unless, you pick up a pair of used components (nothing wrong with that) - check in the classifieds. Or check with Satya (@blueraven316) or Thouqeer (@thouqeer) - they should be able to give you a pair of good used components.

In Phase 2, you can replace the rear speakers with a pair of good 6x9 speakers, and add a 4-channel amp. The amp will make a significant difference in listening experience.

Oh-oh, 4" in front! Hmmm... hardly any mid-bass. Difficult to find 4" components. Think of putting the 6.5" mid-bass drivers of the components on spacers on the door pad.

The rear speakers - 3way 6x9 coaxes - aren't too bad.

Re: Requesting advice for ZEN's ICE Upgrade - Phase 1

Mission completed last Saturday:

HU- Kenwood 6043
Front Comp's - Cerwin Vega 6.5"
Wooden boxes for Rear (existing) coax's
Rings for Comp's

Cost has jumped from my earlier budget of 12k to 16k
But the quality of music now makes us feel it's worth for the money .

Good job done by Satya @ EVO's. Will post the PIC's soon.
