A USB stick with headphones out...

Dear Mods,

I could not find any suitable category to put this post in. Please do the needful.

All of us have seen and OWN a USB device. What i propose here is a USB stich (2,4,16,32 etc) to have a Headphones out on it. If this feature can be available, it will be a great boon because you won't need to carry music players like the sony walkman or ipods. (This can also be a negative thing, in the sense that it could also drive down sales - after a point though)

The 'ease' factor is that you can plug the USB into devices that support it and play it like a normal USB thing, or you can take it anywhere with you and have a pair of your favorite earphones and listen away.

With the advent of large scale miniaturization, it's quite possible to build a USB stick with this configuration. On the usability front, it would have a earphone jack, and 2 buttons for vol up/down. The stick will automatically play songs in the order songs are copied onto it, and will play the most popular formats available today.

So dear friends do you think this could be possible ?

Re: A USB stick with headphones out...

Well, technically it is possible, but then they would be same as any flash based media players. Would need extra firmware to have play media and give all kinds of functionality like playlist, equalizer etc. I would prefer plain jaded huge pen drive which can be inserted into my in-dash system and can play.

PS : Also remember you would need some kind of screen to see whats playing or to choose what would you like to play. Few years ago these were not necessary but these days are an absolute must.

Such a device has been in the market for quite some time (3-4 years) now.
I think you are talking about this one only. Sony and a lot of newer players have these offering data+ MP3+mp4 capabilities.
