The HU Vittesse Maruti offered me on the Zxi was not very good. A 40K system wont do justice to that HU. Ask them for a discount instead.

40K ha ha ha do you need the boot? Do you mind making small holes in the A pillars for tweeters?

We love spending money on audio even if it is not our to spend or enjoy. :-)

If it were me.
Alpine 9847 or 9851 HU: 15K
Infinity 6010cs or similar components: 6K
Infinity 6012i or simiar coax for rear: 3.5K
Infinity Basslink 10": 15K
Install: 2K
--------------------
41.5K

alternate no sub better HU
Alpine 9853 HU: 22K
Infinity 6010 cs or similar for front: 6K
Infinity 6012i or similar for rear: 3.5K
Alpine 240 amp: 11K
Install 2K
-----------
44.5K

a really nice alternate at 51-53.5K
-----------------------------
HU: 15K
Speakers: 9.5K
Alpine F450 amp: 20K (discontinued model but excellent amp)
JBL 1200T/B sub: 6.5K/9K
of coruse you can upgrade the Hu for 7K more but then you are looking at a 60K budget.

heh navin, just a doubt which you could clarify for me. you have not mentioned an amp to power the infinity basslink 10"(i assume that its a subwoofer) in your first option. Was that a mistake? or is there any logic behind it?

Prince,

Basslinks are active subs, they have built in power amplifier

Yes the logic is that the Basslink has a 200 or 250W amp to power itself.

As a one time designer of big SS power amps (2KW was the biggest amp I ever made) I kno how crucial it is for the designer or the amp to know the load. With a powered speaker the amp can be designed to match the load. One can even compensate for the speaker's poor response with a dedicated amp. Given this I prefer properly designed powered subs.

The Alpine F450 was mentioned as unlike the present generation of Alpine 5 ch. amps this amp had 1 channel designed to be used for subwoofers. A subwoofer put a different set of demands on an amp than a midbass, midrange or tweeter. Sub usually have some severe low impedance dips and need amps that can dump current, subs usually have higher inductance and this means a more reactive load and hence it is harder on the amp, at the same time since the ear is not very sensitive in below 100hz a sub amp does not need to extract every fine detail in the music.

In auto terms. For a sub you need a MACK truck for the midrange a Porsche 911. I just wish they were as cheap as Maruti 800s.

mmmmmmm..On my swift,I went in for a Pioneer P1Y HU,350 watt rear 6x9's by pioneer(blue cone), 500 watt sony amp,800 watt pioneer sub and pioneer 160 watt front speakers. Gave a brilliant enough effect though it's barely anything. You might want to add a 200 watt amp for ure front speakers. the 4 channel 500w wont take rear ,front and sub. costed me around 28k total. Improvise by putting components on the front. Decent pioneer components should cost 5-7k extra. If you really wanna go crazy try jbl rear speakers with a slightly higher wattage and a 1000 watt sub. You'd get an amazing effect for 40k. But thats including the HU. Minus maybe 13k for the Hu and blow ure car apart. I'd def suggest you get the doors and boot padded when u get ure system fixed. Swifts are too platicy and rattle a hell ofa lot! Thats not exp though.

:Cheering: just put the systemm

pioneer head unit with 3 rca....6050 i think

Congrats buddy, thats one seriously good system u have in your car.
A jblfyed swift eh! Enjoy the music buddy.

PS: Hope you havent used cables from boss though coz that would be a disaster to go with a beautiful system like yours.

Good you got the ipod connector. It would be the most foolish thing to use an iTrip with a setup like that.... I hate my iTrip, used it for a week after i got it coz its a complete waste when it comes to sound quality.

Congrats - Head unit excepted, got a similar set up in my swift, I temporarily put my 1200 T sub in the swift but found that is has very little airspace for the bass and politically, my wife thinks it is a waste of space. Am exploring the jbl boxes shortly.

Also got a Harmann Kardon - Drive + Play controller coming in from the US early next month
