Free air or IB setup. needs better boot insulation for making it air tight. Easiest setup. Saves space.

The other one; better beats/boom. Needs a good box design.

Free air type if u got a car with a boot and enclosed if its a hatch/notch. i have enclosed one in my santro the effect is awe-f**kin-some but the same box with same HU and wiring doesn't give that THICK BASS effect in my accent.

I don't know who coined up the word 'Boom Box' to be used synonymously with subwoofer enclosures, but he couldnt be more wrong.

A boom-box is an American reference most commonly made in the 70s and 80's to the portable stereo, better known as '2-in-1s' in India. It could be either a cassette or stereo player with radio, capable of being battery powered and with integral speakers.

I'm sure thats not what you have in your car, rareone. Just to correct your vocabulary...before you flash me a

getting back to the topic....in most cases an enclosed sub will outperfrom a free air sub esp. in the quality of bass produced. Most free Air installs are done to save boot space and to BOOM.

I had pioneer 1200F woofer in my esteem few year back they sounded very cool no loss on boot and good bass. They played very low freq very good but the punch was very less as compared to low bass for example I played the first song of titanic which has a low bass notes it played very good but when I played something techno with beats it played good but not as good as low bass one.U can see the pic here of the subs. This install was done whole by my self without any help of any other installer.

You cannot beat the sound of enclosed subwoofers. Free air / IB can also sound very good but there is a lot of work involved in sealing the boot from the passenger cabin and lot of people don't know how to do it right.

Have used both but prefer the sub to be enclosed, it sounds much better. In Free Air the sub if I may say "sounds like its all over the place"!

I mean to say that the free air sounded good but not that much better that the box type but one more thing if u have a hatchback car like swift or zen it is the box will sound the best but if u have a sedan like esteem or accent good sealing and insulated boot the free air sub will sound good. rest it is your choice what type of bass u want

insulating a boot can cost as much as a box. IB subs should only be used when boot space cant be spared.
