ICE'd my Toy (Maruti Swift)

Hello Bhpian's

Disclaimer : I am not commercially involved with JBL , Alpine , all the products shown here i bought it from my cousin brother who is a distributor( Almighty Autos ) in Bhopal for all above mentioned products .

Lets start so i got my new swift Zdi in Nov 2011 , and was happily enjoying the music played on OEM system . ICE upgrade was on my mind but was scheduled for third quarter of 2012 . A problem happened when i went to bhopal in jan 2012 to attend a family function . When i went to my cousin office i see huge lot of JBL , Infinity inventory , i got drooled over . So i sat with him all day discussing things, also saw many car coming in with high end installs done by him.

End result was that i end up spending my hard earned money on Iceing my toy . So i made a list and called up our great LBM to discuss whether it is worth taking or not . LBM gave a green signal to go ahead and get it .

Brother showed me new high end components MS 62 C from JBL , which he had fitted in his car . I auditioned it , they do not sound bright at all like the other JBL speakers are . Speakers , amps all were finalized , now problem was a headunit . Headunit which we finalized was alpine 117 E but there was no inventory with alpine . We called up the Alpine HO in gurgaon to check for stock , they said new stock will be available late feb . But a new surprise was stored for me , they told there is touch screen unit available with them if we need one that to at attractive prize . I always use to ask my brother about this player Alpine ixa-404 E , but it was not in my budget . This time I was lucky and I became proud owner of Alpine ixa-404 E , its mobile media station player from alpine which only plays from USB , aux , iPod and iPhone .

Now come the sub woofer selection part , that was an easy task for me and it was finalized on the very first day when I visited my bro office . I saw a huge woofer with golden cone and infinity kappa name was engraved on it . So started searching for reviews on net for infinity kappa 120.9 woofer, very first thread which google gave me was of teambhp . So subwoofer was also finalized, but where is the amp which will drive the woofer . I asked my brother I need a mono amp which can serve me in future upgrades as well , he placed an order for the infinity kappa one mono amp. This amp is cool and so small , one has to see to believe this . Scosche speaker wires I got it for free from my bro as a gift .

List of ICE products which went into my toy :

Head unit: Alpine IXA-404E
Front door speakers: JBL MS-62C components
Rear door speakers: Infinity reference co-axial
Four channel amplifier: JBL GTO 1004 four channel amplifier
Sub woofer: Infinity Kappa 120.9
Mono Amplifier: Infinity kappa one
RCA : Connection Audison ( three pairs of two channel ) got it from Driven
Damping : Dynamat Extreme bulk pack ( got it from Driven )
Power wiring for amps : Finloex 25 mm ( 8 m ) ( recommended by LBM and it worth every penny of money )
Sub woofer wiring : Finolex 5 mm

Install was done at faridabad by installer Happy paaji , he is one of the famous ICE installer in faridabad after Jagga . He is about to open a new shop name Auto Image in few days , installation was done neat and clean , I am totally satisfied with the install done by him . Installation took complete two days, nothing was done in a hurry . All proper tool was used during installation and without OEM wire cuts . Sealed sub woofer box was made by jagga ustad as I needed a punch .

Here are some of the snaps taken during installation :

OEM headunit removed from the dashboard

Side panels removed and cleaned for damping

Doors and boot were heavily damped from inside and outside , only have one snap of it sorry guys . One has to hear it to believe how much has been damped . Now i only hear music not the outside noise .
ICE'd my Toy (Maruti Swift)-ice-toy-4.jpg

MS-62 C components fixed on MDF rings . They go very low and loud as well , they are not bright at all . When LBM auditioned it , first thing he said they are not usual JBL components .

ICE'd my Toy (Maruti Swift)-ice-toy-7.jpg

Amplifiers fixed on MDF board : JBL GTO 1004 and infinity kappa one mono

ICE'd my Toy (Maruti Swift)-ice-toy-9.jpg

Alpine Ixa-404E went in , this media player has three preouts with high outputs . Only 25 percent gain has been increased on GTO 1004 , and all bass , treble , loudness are set to 0 .

Infinity kappa woofer installed in sealed box wired to infinity kappa one mono amp through finolex 5 mm wire .

Headunit looks uber cool and sexy at night .

I would like to give big special thanks to LBM aka Raghwinder aka Mickey Paaji as he helped me lot , as without him this dream installation would never had been successful . I don’t how much time and at what time I called him, he replied calmly. I owe you a big party LBM paaji .

A big surprise coming up , i went to DCE event on sunday 20th feburary 2012 . LBM tested with DB meter , and what we got was amazing number from a single SQ sub installed in LBM designed ported box . My SPL db almost matched safari playing 4 pioneer sub woofers .

I so want to avoid getting swayed but threads like this make me go weak.

Congrats on the setup.

It might be tough to tell publicly about the price breakup (due to huge discounts by your BIL) but would you mind sharing via PM ? I am primarily interested in the HU and the Dynamat Extreme Pack.

Re: ICE'd my Toy (Maruti Swift)

Thanks Sushant , dynamat extreme was purchased from Driven for INR 12800 . Alpine products sold in market has almost same price everywhere , so you can check with driven or motor concepts . Their addresses can be confirmed from teambhp directory .

Re: ICE'd my Toy (Maruti Swift)

So Bhp'ians here is the surprise .

There was a Drag racing and Db drag event at DCE last monday 20th Feburary 2012 . As i already mentioned my toy got a great SPL db number at the Db drag event . Woofer box was changed on last sunday to ported one and it was designed by our great LBM . Result was 134.8 Db of SPL from a SQ sub woofer ( infinity kappa one ) , please find the snap of same .

ICE'd my Toy (Maruti Swift)-spl-test.jpg

People were astonished to see the numbers , i was also total drooled to see the Db numbers .

There was a safari which having 4 JBLs and a 15 inch ascendant havoc but it only churned out 144 Db . Winner of the db drag day was our LBM with 144.9 DB from single 15 inch ascendant havoc . Its simply mind blowing , how LBM got 144.9 DB and made my toy to get 134.8 db. He has been winning the Db drag since 4 years . He has the loudest car in india , and the only one who can do hair trick .

Do you have a snap of how the tweeters were installed? Are they inside the stock cover on the A pillar?

Re: ICE'd my Toy (Maruti Swift)

@ Safari beast, that is one heck of a set-up. I seriously loved the Mono Block and the woofer and the head unit looks tempting as well.

Would it be possible for you to send(PM) me the price break up of the head unit, the sub woofer and the mono block amp as I am looking for these for my stage 2 & 3 set up for my ICE in my new swift. Also do tell me if the steering audio controls are functioning. Thanks a lot in advance.

10db is a big difference. at what frequency are you testing? Or is this the MAX SPL the woofer can produce at any frequency?
