DIY - Fiat Linea AUX input

I was in search of AUX cable for Linea. Tried in eBay, my bad time, every time I got the error message "Sorry, your transaction cannot be completed" and Rs.1 deducted from my account. Tried with almost all my cards and lost more than 10Rs.

Today right from morning went in search of AUX cable to each and every car audio shop from Tambaram to GP road. Again my bad luck, couldn't find one.

Finally by 5.00PM went to my regular shop to install floor mats for Linea and found a scrap wiring harness there. Something went inside my mind, took that in hand and it was very similar to Mini ISO pin (the AUX socket for Linea) but again my bad luck, it was not. But the pins (the one inside the socket) were exactly same as the required one. So taken that socket home and thought of making my owm AUX cable as DIY.

Removed those pins out of the socket. Had a meter long RF cable and RF to Stereo converter pin at home. Soldered those pins to the RF cable.

Now came the question, how to remove the HU from dash? I don't have that U-Clip to remove the HU. Called the fellow from where I have taken the socket, even he doesn't have one. Heart siad, should somehow do it today. Went to the nearby puncture shop and got 4 nos 2 wheeler spokes (TVS Max 100 spokes, he said) and after a hard try for about 15 mins, I could get the HU out of Dash (sorry, forgot to take the snaps)

My goodness, the HU had the socket diagram showing the details of each pin. Figured out the 3 pins for AUX and inserted my DIY AUX cable. Connected my mobile and switched on the Radio, I was like
My DIY worked out.

Sound clarity was excellent. Made some phone calls keeping the mobile in co-driver seat and below the hand brake lever and found OK.

Here are few snaps, sorry no time to take more snaps or no one to help out, atleast in taking snaps.

Re: DIY - Fiat Linea AUX input

Thats a Great DIY...to add a really essential feature in the Linea. By the way, didn't the Linea already come with USB Aux and Bluetooth?

Excellent DIY Mr.Boss!

Works great for those who don't wanna lose Blue & Me but can't stand the stupidity of Fiat's USB input.

How is the SQ btw?

Cheers,
K

Thanks man. Sound quality is same as CD player. Only thing is I should keep the phone / mp3 player equalizer in Normal or Flat mode, else there is excessive Bass / treble which spoils the SQ.

Re: DIY - Fiat Linea AUX input

Stupid idea here,

Thought of installing a basic USB player (may be from Gesonic) under the dash and connect it to stock HU through AUX, take out the remote sensor from USB player and place it in some convenient place in dash, so that the player can be operated through remote.

Does it sound good? Any suggestions?

Quick update: Changed the cable last night to get rid of the additional adapter. Will post the snaps soon.

Re: DIY - Fiat Linea AUX input

Guys, tried this same DIY in my friend's Linea, but with least success. There is no audio output in AUX mode.

In my case when I connect any one of the 3 wires from AUX cable to the HU, I could hear the music, but with very less volume and when I connect the GND, it gives full output. This phenomena I could not find in his HU.

What could be the problem?

I too have a Linea emotion. I am also interested to acquire an Aux in cable.
I searched ebay and found it(given in following link).

Is it the one that can be fixed in Linea?

See if it appears in eBay Global Buy if you search on eBay India - slightly different route but they do door delivery inclusive of customs.

Unfortunately I am not able to recall which, but there are a couple of other sites that help you buy on eBay and deliver to India - check.

Re: DIY - Fiat Linea AUX input

I meant via Global Easy Buy on ebay.in (button on the toolbar).

I found this: http://geb.ebay.in/g/ImportHubViewIt...AU-8-3NPUT-NEW

OTOH, this is likely to be available in India itself, or can be put together by anyone with decent crimping skills using crimp pins (search in the ICE section, some people have done it themselves for Blau HUs).

As a first step, look up Bosch service number, call them and ask for a Aux-in connection cable for Blaupunkt HUs - it is a standard part. You need to patiently explain till they understand what you want (describe the 8-pin blue connector that fits at the back of the HU). They will be able to tell you where it is available in your region.
