Yes probably the flickering issues with Jaspreet's cam was due to the same reason. But mine is a different issue altogether. Never faced any restarts or flickers. It straight away conked off to glory!

My cam though working like a charm all throughout, suddenly got stuck on the boot screen around 2 weeks ago. I was so used to it that I hardly checked on it if its working or not. The videos on the card showed that I noticed it after 2 days of it conking off. I had never even updated the firmware thinking why to fix something that is not broken.

I immediately logged a complaint on the support.viofo.com and also searched their forum for similar issues faced by other customers. To my horror, there were quite a few others who were facing similar issues.

I was asked to perform various steps like updating firmware (tried V1.1, 1.7 and 3.1), formatting the card using some software they provided, using a 16 GB card instead of 32 GB I was using and resetting it etc. However the cam did not budge and is still in the same state. It powers on with both Power and Rec lights on, shows the Viofo logo, plays the boot sound, the power light goes off and stays on the logo with the Rec light on.

Had the exact same issue a couple of times back in February due to a four metre 3rd party cable. Reflashing the firmware and switching back to the one supplied by VIOFO did the trick.

File corruption in my experience can also be attributed to how one is powering the camera. The strange thing is that it's only the A119S that behaves erratically when powered using 3rd party cables, both 2 metres and 4 metres.

Try reloading the latest firmware twice. Use two SD cards as the camera deletes the firmware from the card after it's flashed, worked for some from what I've read.

Not able to reflash the firmware as the cam does not respond to the file in the root of the card at all. I have even tried different cards, different formatting tools. It just boots in the exact same way I mentioned and stays there.

Have always been using the supplied cable and no 3rd party cable was ever used.

Again from what I've read, Novatek cameras don't brick easily, reloading the firmware usually works.

Hi All,

Need a bit of advice on DVR. I have a Safari Storme & the concern I've always had with putting in a dash cam is the vibrations in the Storme.

To test this, I thought of trying an experiment by taking an Android phone & seeing the quality of recordings using a dash cam software. The results are very discouraging. Have a look below:

Question
Obviously this is a temp setup, so not the best quality. But will putting a dash cam actually address these vibration?

Please advise.

PS:
The mount used was of good quality & there were no movements in the setup.

I think the 3M double sided tapes that come with the dashcam absorb these vibrations etc and keep the dashcam sturdy.

Can you try using this same mount with a 3M double sided tape and try recording?!

Yes, they'll address the vibration. I installed a rather cheap dashcam from aliexpress. It came with "3M VHB tape" and the footage is super smooth :thumbs up

This is a problem specifically with the suction cup mount. The weight of the phone makes it worse. The suction cup mount that most of the dashcams ship with are ok to bad in quality. The stick on mounts are much better. Like others have mentioned, try the mount that you can stick to the windscreen and these should be sorted!

You mean with a proper hard wiring kit? Any accessories shop / car decor should be able to do it. But take care to use fuse tap instead of their conventional way of wire splicing.
Or
if you are using the regular cigar lighter socket, it's hardly a few minutes task. Follow the instruction manual.

Can you please explain a bit more about fuse tap? I am interested in getting a dash-cam and want to avoid wire-splicing (due to warranty concerns) and also I want avoid blocking my 12V power out for this.

You get answered for all your queries here
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/diy-do...r-dashcam.html

after a lot of research ended up ordering Transcend Drivepro 230, seems to be a pretty competent camera with lots of features.

Should be with me next week.

Ordered Viofo A119 along with the GSP Module. Hopefully it will be with me by end of month/early next month. Very excited.
