VIOFO makes one for the A118C V2 (same one that fits the A119 and A119S) but it won't fit the V1 A118C.

This is how I DIY'd one - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-en...ml#post4008188

There's a drastic drop in night quality, I'd suggest you take it off post evening if going this route.

Check out the difference for yourself

Thanks for the review. Night time quality drop is serious, it won't be always feasible to remove CPL in evening, and re-attach in morning. Dashcam should be kind of fit and forget system.
Now i think I should be better off from CPL

The 'fit and forget' IMO applies only to installing one and once set up not needing to press any buttons or fiddle around. Certainly need to keep an eye on the recording indicator and periodically check the SD card for errors.

The SD card and power supply are the weakest links.

Absolutely! That's what I meant by 'fit and forget'. Agree about SD card possible corruption. Windshield mount location makes it exposed to a lot of heat and premature SD card corruption should not be surprising.

I'm getting VIOFO A119 from US. Where can I get hardwire kit here in Bangalore? Also had anyone hardwired their dashcams in Bangalore, if yes please suggest the place and contact.

Also I saw that many sellers are selling the dashcam with 32 GB Transcend High Endurance memory card, is it worth to buy or should I stick with normal SD card?

Cheers!

Received my A119 from Aliexpress (straight 2 weeks). Cost was 5750 with GPS mount and CPS filter. Installed in my XUV and pretty good results. Impressive !!

Some points on the dash cam
+ Excellent video quality
+ Night time quality is very much usable (tested in basement)
+ Value for money
+ Design is barely noticeable from outside and is well hidden inside

- Pulling out micro SD card was not easy
- The camera attaching to the GPS mount is not very firm, it seems slightly loose or wobbly

As per reviews, it seems Transcend/Lexar endurance cards are the best. If not available or looking for cheaper option please take a look at 633X Lexar. For a quick option (short time) Samsung Evo/Evo+ seems to work fine (I am using this but planning to replace within a month or so)

I too, am looking for ordering from aliexpress. Any specific reason for choosing the A119 over the newer A119s.
Which seller? Please post the link.
Also waiting for picture and video reviews.

Main reason : At least 20$ lesser in price
Link comparing both: https://www.carcamcentral.com/review/viofo-a119-review

Other reasons that I told myself :-)
* A119 is probably tested well compared to newer A119S
* A119 has wider view angle
* Has higher resolution video compared to just 1080p of A119S
* Sideways adjustment of camera

Team BHPians, need your suggestion for my first dashcam.please:

Requirements:
1. inexpensive (Chinese unbranded ones are fine ). HD is not mandatory.
2. USB powered (from 12V socket)
3. Will be placed on a non-slip mat on the dashboard; suction mount not required
4. should delete old video and continue recording once memory is full
5. Preferably 4 hrs+ recording capacity
6. Size as slim as possible. Even a dashcam without display is fine. As long as I can connect it to my smartphone and playback the videos.

This will be my first dashcam, so need an inexpensive one. Going by the experience, I may acquire a Transcend Drivepro and attach it on the front windscreen. The old one will be relegated to the rear windscreen.

You will invariably upgrade in no time. :)
Go for a good one, from get-go rather than spending money on a not-so-good product now and upgrading later.

I am concerned about keeping the cam on dashboard. It will not give you good coverage. Due to the wipers and dash curves, even the vehicle dead in front of you might not be visible. You can decide on the placement once the camera is with you.

Recently updated A119 is selling for INR 7500 to 8000 (including GPS mount and CPS filter). They are not available for 5K even on mobile APP.

Did you went for hard wiring or with USB?

Heard the GPS mount issue is fixed with new models, which one of the below did you received?

Link - Amazon

This doesn't have a screen, doesn't come with a suction mount(but I was planning on putting it behind the rear view mirror. Not sure if dashboard is appropriate). The power is probably not USB though.

Check it out...

Disclaimer - I didn't buy this but was seriously considering buying this. Ended up buying its expensive cousin...

Mine is old type according to your post, but I am able to pull GPS data without issues. I got the USB socket version with both GPS and CPS filter.
I thought the update to A119 was A119S (with Sony sensor). Anyway, pretty happy with the purchase.

I should have mentioned it clearly, the one in picture was not a comparison between A119 and A119S but is between A119 and A119 Version 2 (the newly launched one)
More details can be found HERE and HERE

The new one comes with EVA Foam for more stability with or without GPS logger

Cheers!
