Head-Unit Remote: Keeps getting lost!

I keep losing the remote of my car audio system. Sometimes I keep in my lap and it falls out of the car when I get off. Once it somehow made its way to the boot. Have even found it missing for weeks and later found it under seat or at home.

Do other BHPians face this problem? Any suggestions or innovative solutions please!

You could be more careful as to where you place it or tie a stirng on the remote and tie the other end to door handle of your car.

I dropped it once, when I was stopped by cops for checking,I realised this a little later.Drove back to the place after an hour and got it back from the cops.
Lost it once and had to get a replacement for 500 bucks.

Is this really an ICE query? I'd suggest the following :

1. Punch a cord through the remote and tie it to your car keychain.
2. Smear the remote with some really strong smelling stuff. That way when it gets lost you can just follow the stench.
3. I'm presuming your HU does come with buttons. Learn to use them. That way you won't need a remote.
4. Maintain a diary where you write "I won't lose my remote today" 100 times every morning. Or 108 times. That gives it a religious angle!
5. Approach your HU manufacturer for duplicate copies of the same remote. Maintain an inventory of them. Who cares if one gets lost, you have a 100 in store!
6. See a psychologist for forgetfulness.

(All suggestions are given in jest and not to be taken seriously )

Use a mobile phone retail display stand that is used by mobile shops.

Use a 3M auto adhesive tape and stick the base to your dash.

- Keep the remote in the armrest
-The back of the seat might have a deep pocket, use it to keep the remote so members in the rear use it and put it back.

Wow. This is innovative. Was expecing something od these levels. I remember a kid suggested her mom to tie a cord to the phone and keep it in one corner of the house (aka landline) when they kept misplacing their cordless phone.

re: Head-Unit Remote: Keeps getting lost!

Get a 1" strip of velcro. Glue one side of the velcro strip on top of the handbrake handle or steering wheel. Glue the other side to the underside of the remote. You will soon get into the habit of returning the remote to the home base, given the irritating feel of the velcro on the underside of the remote.

re: Head-Unit Remote: Keeps getting lost!

Get a universal remote and learn the remote with your remote and keep it safe at home as a backup. Also try to reduce the dependency on remote to control the HU, instead use the HU buttons.
