Issue with JBL GTO 1004 Amp

I am using a GTO 1004 amplifier with Kenwood 8016BT .Off late i am facing a issue with rear right channel . The behavior of rear right channel is of three types i.e
1.) 100% Clarity and 100% Volume response like from other channels.
2.) No Sound at all . However many times if i jack up the volume it suddenly turns alive as if nothing happened.
3.) The volume in this channel lacks bass and there is kitr-kitr noise also coming . Lot of noise . Again if i jack up the volume it turns ok.

The issue is not constant sometimes it will come then for many days it may not show up.I checked up all RC Leads(swapped channel for some days), Speaker (Swapped for some days ), terminals checked.

I tried going to repair guy twice but each time i went it became ok when i landed on his door so could not replicate the issue.

Please advice else i end up buying another one sooner or later.

Sounds like a component on the PCB has a dry joint. Ask the service person to shake all components one by one - he will find the culprit.

re: Issue with JBL GTO 1004 Amp

I had a similar issue in my JBL GTO 75.4. Turned out to be dust accumulation in the switches and dials on the amp. A good through cleaning of the circuits took care of the problem.

My amp is located in the boot and worked well for 5 years before I had this glitch.

Re: Issue with JBL GTO 1004 Amp

My amps is clean and there is hardly any dust .It is now about 3 years old.The electrician did open the amp unfortunately could not find any issue like dry joint or loose solders, black spots etc. He asked to use it till it totally fails and only then he will be able to troubleshoot the issue.

Re: Issue with JBL GTO 1004 Amp

After tinkering i have found the issue :
1.) In the 1004 JBL Amp the three way switch seems to have a issue as touching slightly makes the issue go away . This three way switch is for rear channel Low Pass, Flat and Hi Pass selector switch.
2.) In the GTo3501 powering the woofers i have the same issue and fiddling with the Gain control on Amp resolves the issue of low bass from woofers.

Any ideas what i need to get done to resolve the issue permanently?

I have a GTO 1004 amp myself. Is this like a known issue or one-off case?

I am not sure if it is a known issue. What i found this can happen with the best of equipments and needs cleaning of potentiometers. I have finally ordered this http://www.grabmore.in/products/7287...sol-Spray.html .
I looked around on web and found this stuff is the best and cleans the potentiometers while keeping them safe and bring them back to like new.Hoping it will solve my problems.

Re: Issue with JBL GTO 1004 Amp

Update . I recieved the Deoxit yesterday . The packing was great .I opened the amp and as instructed sprayed a bit on the pots and then few times operate the pots, resprayed , waited for 2 min . The pots are so free now that i was wondering was it all dust or i messed up by spraying this stuff on them. However i glad to report i have resolved my issues with my amps .I have not faced the issues since two days now . Thanks Dexoit.
