Audio set-up query

Hi,

I am looking to get the following set-up for my XETA and was hoping if you guys were able to provide me with an approximate price range for the same. Here goes:
HU : Sony Xplod (either CDX-GT 250S or 350S)
Speakers : JBL's CS series (5.25")
Amp : Sony 504
Sub : Pioneer 306C
Wiring kit : Interlink Jr. by Monster

I don't want to be ignorant at the audio-shop and readily agree with the quote I receive; however, if I have with me, some sort of a price bracket for this particular set-up, I'm sure I could bargain or fabricate something to the effect that I was getting a better deal elsewhere.
Also, do you suggest,
Sony's 250S or the 350S
AND
JBL's GTO or CS series speakers
I don't think I want to spend more than 25K.

Thanks.
P.S - I would appreciate model specifics too

25 k is a decent budget fora system of that sort.

Use a Pioneer HU over Sony,I would say. In fact, I would use a grey Pio rather than a billed one, it's cheaper, and thats a good place to save rather than shrinking your speaker budget. If anything goes wrong, basic Pioneer HUs can be repaired easily and cheaply in Bombay.

You could afford better speakers in this budget too. You can look at comps upto 6-7k.

I wouldnt use the Interlink Junior with the system you descibe. Too much, why dont you use something cheaper?

I would think the config would look like

HU: Pioneer HU about 6-7k
Front comps: 6-7k
Amp: Pio 4-ch about 7k (so, this 4-ch can drive your fronts and the sub)
Sub: Pio 306 about 3k.
Enclosure/ Cabling/ Installation etc: About 3k

Total: About 26k?

Hey, thanks for sharing your choice of set-up with a 25K budget.
I think I'd be more comfortable goin' in for a Sony than any other brand, atleast with regard to the HU.
Could you also provide some insight on the speaker's front, i.e. what series of JBL, GTO vs. CS, comparing one with the other,
sound qualitywise and pricewise?

Thanks

Well, GTO certainly would be superior to CS. I wouldnt have a doubt about that. And at the budget I specified, you should get a comp from the GTO series.

Ifyou prefer Sony, then Sony it is.

Navin, I did read it. In fact, following Sam's comments were mine.
I am trying to get a specific here and have also stated my budget. If it's either the GTO or the CS series, what model and price would I be looking at. I also learnt from a fellow BHPian that the speaker size for the Indica is 5.25".
Would also like to know if the Sony 250S or 350S is recommended.

Thanks

You have a good budget , so why dont you go in for a better head unit rather than sticking to Pio/Sony ? Believe me I myself was a Pioneer buff ...(coz thats more common ) but lately on someone's advice I changed to Alpine ...and boy its really really awesome . and if you search a bit Alpine CDA 9830/9833/9845 can be had for around 6 thousand ...obviously a slightly used one.

@ maxbhp; posts in bold and caps are considered rude. Pls try to avoid it in future.

go for the 450s, it has a sub out and a better display than the 350. for the amp, go for the Sony 554ZR, it is a 4 ch amp which can power ur front JBLs and the sub.

450s - 6.2k
Amp - 3.8K

all rates quoted are in chennai. might vary a bit in mumbai

cheers

Isn't the Sony 504 a four-channel amplifier? How is the Sony 554ZR different from the 504's?
