Honda dealers to offer Motevo touchscreen for City

Thank you to the Team-BHP fan who sent this information to us (he prefers to remain anonymous). Heartfelt gratitude for sharing them with other enthusiasts!

Honda dealers will soon start offering a Motevo touchscreen infotainment system for the City sedan. The step has just been approved by Honda and will be welcomed by customers as the current system looks like an aftermarket unit. The new system looks better integrated into the dash comparatively.

Here's a look at some of the features of the Motevo system:
  • 1 GHz processor frequency, 256 MB RAM
  • Han Star panel, TFT-LCD, HD 800*480
  • Radio (AM/FM), RDS (optional)
  • iPod connectivity
  • Support for 306-degree camera-in and black box and parking sensor
  • DVD player with multi-format compatibility
  • Steering wheel-mounted controls
  • Hands-free Bluetooth with phonebook, phonebook searching
  • Built-in GPS navigation with WINCE6.0 OS
  • Support for digital TV and analogue TV (optional)
  • Support for car DVR (optional)
  • Dual zone display (navigation screen for driver, entertainment for passengers)
  • Changing wallpaper
  • Multi language support

Note: On some pages, images of the previous-gen City are mistakenly shown. However, on other pages, the fourth-gen City is there.

This is the most hilarious product brochure I have seen. How can processor frequency by 1 GB?? Processor speed is supposed to be GHz not in bytes. lol.

I hope it works better than the brochure.

Very poor English used in the brochure, typical Chinese product brochure. Processor clock runs on Hz and not GB.

Didn't know that Germany was a language.

Hope the product works better than the brochure.

The information on the website http://www.motevoindia.com/Honda%20City.html seems much better put together.

Any indication on the price of the product? How different is it from the ones that are already available, with delaers or with retailers?

Hilarious Indeed. I wouldn't be too excited about this product. Its clearly Chinese (with due respect to well made chinese products) and hope Honda is doing the right thing in offering this product. Also, not sure whether this would be a Genuine accessory or Honda has just approved this product to be offered at the dealer level. Time will tell.

Re: Honda dealers to offer Motevo touchscreen for City

Motevo, etc. are not crappy stuff that is a favorite with taxi-wallas, but they don't have the organization nor quality consciousness of main-stream companies like Pioneer, Sony, Blaupunkt, Kenwood etc. Typos and weird English is to be expected with any Made in China product and brochure in this category, and that really has no relation with the actual product. The snafus one can expect are reliability and sound quality. Perhaps the only advantage they would have over other aftermarket vendors is better plastic quality of the bezel to match the OE stuff around it - nothing else. With other aftermarket HUs, one has to go hunting for a good bezel.

Mind you, this is being offered by the DEALERS of Honda cars, not by Honda itself as one would think. That would require Motevo to invest a couple of 100 person-years to become an OE vendor. This is unlike the deal JBL has with Maruti Suzuki to supply OE or aftermarket stuff for MSIL cars, or products that come as OE fitment in other cars. This is effectively Motevo selling directly through Dealers. Dealers get some revenue exploiting the "Warranty will be void if ..." imaginary Damocles sword that they dangle over prospective buyers' head. Some people would also like to rid themselves of the headache of getting it done elsewhere.

Yes, only advantages I see are the better integration through closer matching bezels and plastics as well as the steering remote. Most aftermarket stuff otherwise do not offer a legitimate steering remote.

The warranty part is anyhow the dealers' game. If they sell you anything they suggest that to be kosher. This one will also be another one in their repertoire.

Hilarious !!
The Idiots didn't even use the right image of the car in the brochure !
They have used images of the last generation Honda City while advertising an ICE for the current City.

I had enquired for an ICE unit for Mobilio and Dakshin Honda had offered Motevo priced at 38k with camera. The same unit was available for 32k from local dealers. Dakshin Honda pricelist including Motevo unit is attached:

This might be a smart move by Honda to make the lower variants look more fancy.

Honda might not offer a entertainment console but they can go like, "Hey, why don't you get one of those Motevo thingies fitted, it's approved by us!"

Re: Honda dealers to offer Motevo touchscreen for City

When I read Motevo, the first thing that came to mind was its Italian so how bad can it be. A few quirks at the most. At the asking price, I think it would be safer to stick to a Pioneer or Kenwood.

For a car stereo that is capable of so much, I doubt if a 1Ghz processor clubbed with 256mb of memory will do anything more than play music without snapping.

Very poor specification for something that costs so much. When on earth are we going to give up Windows CE.

Sensitive Radio is hilarious.
