Adding Bluetooth to a Pioneer Head-Unit

Folks!

Great to be active after a long time.

I have recently purchased Pioneer AVH X1790 DVD HU, and realised later on that it was missing bluetooth streaming capabilities, which is quite critical for me considering I swapped my i20 OEM HU for it.

I know! Face palm!!

Nonetheless, can I plug in a bluetooth dongle to make streaming possible? Would appreciate you guys chipping in with suggestions.

Thanks

No, you cant. Not a dongle.
A bluetooth aux dongle will work for your purpose, though its not "true" bluetooth capability.

Pioneer AS-BT200 is a Bluetooth receiver accessory for all Pioneer AV Receivers. Unfortunately it has been discontinued. You might still find some stock online. All the best.

You can use these devices-

The basic one-

If you want additional functionalities like call taking, google/siri voice command and the track skipping capability, then you can go for either of these devices-

http://www.amazon.in/iClever-HB01-Ha...ywords=iclever

I use the iclever device.

I don't know if it is possible to install a dongle specifically for a pioneer.

I use a similar device. It has it's quirks. Sometimes after a call, the music doesn't resume. You will need to restart it and reconnect. Start, stop, is manual anyhow. You need to also keep track of its battery, charge it at regular intervals. On the cosmetic side, sticks out like a sore thumb attached to your HU.

If you have the option, exchange your existing HU with one which has integrated BT, a much cleaner solution. Even, I am looking to go in for a Android head unit now to avoid all the juggling.

I have gifted a friend of mine this
http://www.taotronics.com/taotronics-br05.html
he did not have any problems with usage of this and it seems quite stable. There are lots of manufacturers in this area.

Choose the one that comes from most trusted recommendations.
