When I bought the Lodgy I was promised free map updates for the next 3 years. I decided to try if updating was possible as I could see many streets left unmarked or not mapped properly. Asked the dealer and as expected they had no clue. Finally, found the updation process through Renault UK forums. Sharing it here as I have successfully updated the map to the latest version.

So here we go:

What you need:
1. A USB stick (> 2GB)
2. Windows computer

The Process:
1. Download the Media Nav PC tool from this website: https://renault.naviextras.com/shop/portal/downloads . This PC software works only on Windows, no OS X, unfortunately. After download, install it on the PC.

2. Take your USB stick, format it first and then take it to your Lodgy/Duster/Kwid. Switch on the Media Nav and insert the USB.

Touch the NAVI button:

Size: 94.9 KB

Touch right side arrow to go to next page:

Size: 150.0 KB

Touch Map Update:

Touch the Option button below and you will see a pop up. Tap "Update" and "Close"

Size: 68.6 KB

Wait for a couple of seconds while the USB collects the data from the Media Nav. Unplug the USB stick after pop up disappears. Renault calls it fingerprinting. This data helps in identifying the Media Nav on your car.

3. On your PC, open the downloaded PC tool and create a login ID. It's a fairly straightforward process. After that, pop in the USB stick and the software should automatically detect the USB and read the identity of your Media Nav system. Keep the USB plugged in.

4. On the left side of your PC tool, you will find an "updates" tab. Click on it and you will find maps for all the countries with prices on them. Find the map of India and it should say "FREE" on it. The latest update should be Q4 2015. Click on it and the update downloads on your PC. It's about 300 MB. The update is automatically transferred to your USB.

5. After the process is complete on your PC, pop the USB stick again into your Media Nav in the car. The updation process should begin right away. Click OK if prompted to allow updates. Ensure the system doesn't turn off while updating. A better idea would be, to go on a drive till its complete. That's it, job done.

Post the update, I see a lot of new Points of Interest, clearly marked slip roads and small lanes. I'm happy with the new map.

Thanks for the instructions. It looks pretty straightforward. Unfortunately I can't try it out as I changed the unit to Blaupunkt.

Thanks for sharing, swiftdiesel! Have moved your post out into its own thread for the benefit of other Renault owners :thumbs up.

Thank you for the post swiftdiesel.
Booked the Fiery Red Kwid yesterday. Lets hope the map is already up-to-date, else now I know how to update it :thumbs up

Nice!

From the initial look at the subject, I thought this was about ECU maps and remapsstupid:. Please change the subject to "navigation maps"!

Thanks! A much needed information. The maps on our Lodgy (2015 October) are in dire need of updation since the newer roads especially ring roads around cities don't figure in the older version as was revealed in many of our interstate drives. Had specifically requested the Nagpur dealer about uploading the latest maps during the first service but it was of no avail. Will surely update the maps as soon as possible! :)

Thanks swiftdiesel! Update the maps on my Duster to the latest version. The earlier version was 2012 which is surprising as the car was manufactured in 2015.
Before updating the maps, the naviextras tool prompted to update the system software to the latest version. Post system update, the maps were updated.

This may be off topic, as you people are discussing about the MEDIANAV, has anyone changed the firmware for MEDIANAV, Is there an option to customize MEDIANAV?

Not sure if many of you are aware that there is a Paid Version of an Update available for the Renault Media NAV System from https://mena.co/

This enables you to play Video Files in your Media NAV and also attach a rear view camera along with a bunch of other updates.

Looks a bit pricey for something that's not authorised by Renault. Also, the reliability of this firmware would be a gamble. Other than playing videos, I don't see anything that's not covered by the current legit firmware. We already have rear view camera built in.

Thank you so much for this information and I started trying it. I am in the "Update" "Close" screen for a very long time. Could you let me know how much time it took to fingerprint in your car ?

Did you touch the "update" button? It wouldn't appear like a button but it is. The whole fingerprinting process took about 30 seconds for me.

Yep, I did that. Anyways, tried today while driving to office and it is working. Fingerprinting is done, once back in home, will try the map update. Thanks again, I will keep you updated.

Also, I am planing to explore https://mena.co/ as well.

This is in use by many of our Team Duster India Forum Guys with Stock NAV System. Duster RXZ had an NAV System but without reverse camera setup so this 3k opens the entire avenue of options to the existing owner rather than looking for another Navigation System.
Reliability is not a Gamble as it comes with its dedicated Tech Support for Stock System and haven't come across a case where it stopped working in our forum.

Thanks, my system is now updated. Next, I want to explore mena.co/ Will keep you updated.
