Even has a compass and shows current speed too.:thumbs up Car Dashroid-Car Infotainment |
I too have used this for more than a year now. It can be set to turn on and off automatically when connected to a registered device. It has become second nature for me now to tap the 'Dashdroid' shortcut on the phone while I get into the car, before turning on the ignition. It turns on bluetooth and connects. When the device deconnects, it also turns off bluetooth and turns off the app. These features can be enabled or disabled separately. Although, there is a warning in the settings that some devices may behave abnormally when set in this way. I did not face any issue in my 2011 Volvo S60, my dad's Camry or my wife's Polo (which has a Blaupunkt Philadelphia 835).
I was thrilled when I read about Android Auto's mobile version (AA) release online and briefly tried the new updated app.
But I went back to using
'Car Dashdroid'. I found the latter more intuitive and customizable (perhaps I got accustomed to it after using it for so long). It also has multiple app screens and a separate contacts/dialer screen. Because of these, I didn't miss not having Android Auto or Mirror Link in any of my cars.
Until AA gets further updated, I'm sticking to this.

Yes, I have a premium Spotify account.
This is a deal-breaker for me as I love RocketPlayer (it owns every other player out there) and Spotify. Will perhaps revisit Android Auto once it's matured. |
Car Dashdroid seems to have Spotify compatibility.
I didn't see Rocket Player in their list. I use the paid version of an app called Poweramp. This is compatible with Car Dashdroid. Check those out.

Use any free VPN and switch server to US. Been doing it for over 4 years now.

Actually required only for logging in to Spotify. Once you're logged in, you can switch off the VPN. This helps because most of the free VPNs are both speed and data capped.

Rocket player does support Android Auto, it's in beta stage. I mailed the developers about asking the same , they sent me below link. Anyone can sign up for beta access , update the app and start using it.
