Upgradation to Component speaker setup!

Team

I have a Panasonic HU, Panasonic Oval rear speakers and front Sony speakers.

Now I want to upgrade to Front Component speaker set up. Can I use the same sony speakers for the set up or should I use the one that comes with the component speaker set up.

Also let me know what could be an ideal brand/specs for the component speaker set for ALTO.

Thanks!

K

dsinz the alto takes 4" speakers on the dash which you mus be aware of. Components are not available in that size.
The only option you have is to put 5.25" or 6" components on the door with some modifications.
Have a look at speedzak's garage.

Since your setup is pretty basic go for JBL cs2165c 6" compos or for GTO507 5.25" compos.

You will have to remove the Sony speakers to fit in a component system. And please do it.

Theoritically, it is possible to use your current speaker as a woofer for the compos by connecting it to the crossover. But It'll kill all the benefits of buying a component. And you can't get crossover networks cheaper and They're not easily available. They come as a full system containing woofer, tweeter & crossover(s).

May I ask why you want to do this? Are you so much in love with that piece of Sony?

Well, I am not in love with Sony! . I was thinking, If I could reuse it without having to waste that speaker. Not sure if they will take back.

So was bit considerate towards sony... Else I am not for sony. Did not have much knowledge of ICE when buying the car.

Now thinking for some better options!

Before you install components in your Alto please discuss in detail (with your installer) where the tweeters will go (flush mounted or surface mpounted). I have seen many people who choose component speakers and do not realise that their car cannot accomodate tweeters (no tweeter pods). Besides most installers do not care and do a hatchet job.

Dsinz! Have a look here; http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-en...highlight=alto

That will help you out I think.
Dont flush mount the tweeters in Alto. My opinion. That's all.

Oh boy! That is one hell of a ICE Setup! Amazing to see so detailing of each and every aspect.

One take away for me is the placement of speakers. So let me check with some ICE dealer for the upgradation and will let you guys know.

thanks mate!

flush mounted tweeters can look better but that means the tweeters go with the car. surface mounted tweeters can look a little obtrusive but can be dislodged by an over zealous car cleaner or even extreme heat (the glue looses it's properties).
