Connecting iPod to Accord HU

Hello dear friends at ICE,

As most of you might be knowing ICE is an alien territory to me.

Here is my question. I have Honda Accord (pre-facelift 2003 version) and I have an iPod.
I want to connect these two. Now the Accord HU doesn't have AUX port, so earlier I was going to buy FM transmitter like iTrip but reading different posts on forum made me realize that audio quality isn't that great.

After searching over internet I found this guide on installing AUX port in Accord
http://www.distantcreations.com/accordipod/

However problem is here he is using supply from seat heater, Indian spec Accord did not came with any seat heater.

So is there anyway I can add AUX port? If possible can I get iPod compatible port? Which will charge iPod and also allow me to control music from steering control.

Awaiting reply
Thank you in advance.

for power you can take the power from the cigaratte lighter. from what i understand the soundgate device plugs into the Accord OEM HU and gives you 2 RCA inputs. You will also need a EP to RCA wire to plug your ipod into teh soundgate. the ipod can be powered either by it's own batteries or from the cigarette lighter.

one can also use the power wire in the HU harness....which is powering the HU it self......as for the AUX in the HU .....I think here must be some CD-Changer socket Behind the HU and the showroom people would surely have any aux in device......so do check out the showroom.....

for the later model of accord, i bought the dension device from the US. it works great, except that when the car is parked in the sun for a few hours, it tends to give up until it cools down! Dension Audio Systems. i found this on the apple site - Apple - iPod - Car Integration

Bala of Tecnocrat in Chennai has lots of ipod cables for stock HU's. If the OE HU of the old accord has an input for cd changer which u are not using, I am sure bala will have a cable for it.

lemme know if u want bala's number/email id. will pm u.
