Delay timer relay to wait before powering on the HU and the amps

I recently upgraded my HU and Power Amps to the following,
  • Head Unit: Pioneer DMH-Z5290BT
  • 4 Channel Amplifier: Pioneer GM-D8704
  • Monoblock Amplifier: Pioneer GM-D8701

My car, Suzuki Ritz has power-on diagnostics which runs for around 3 seconds. I prefer to crank the engine after the diagnostics get completed. But by the time I crank the engine, the head unit is powered on and when I crank the engine, the head unit loses power and restarts.

My biggest worry is, if I do this every time, there is a good chance, one of these pieces of equipment will fail.

Is there some kind of delay timer relay that can wait for some 30 seconds before it powers on the HU and the amps?

PS: I tried searching for this topic and couldn't find one, hence started a new one.

This is exactly how every car has been designed. When the ignition key is turned on, engine requires maximum current to crank. Hence cars are designed to cut off the power to all accessories when engine cranks and this is safe.

In my view there is no need to worry about this.

Re: Delay timer relay to wait before powering on the HU and the amps

I had a chat with my car audio installer and he mentioned, the following.
  1. Wait for the HU to power on, then press Power Off in the HU, this should signal the amps to switch off as well.
  2. Then crank the engine.

If not then there are two other options.
  1. Get a delay timer and he will get it installed.
  2. Add a switch and handle this situation manually.

PS: Seems like Hyundai and Mahindra are able to handle this. Maybe they have capacitors in the system that briefly handles the power.

Mods, please lock/delete this thread. Google search gave me an already existing thread while forum search didn't yield.

Thanks, @gkveda for responding.

I will continue the discussion over there.
