Need help on buying audio system

Hi. Need your help in buying an audio system for Verna Xi. The verna xi comes with 4 speakers. So here are my questions

(1) Would it then suffice if I just buy a head unit? Would I need to buy anything else? I want a decent basis music system and nothing majorly hifi
(2) Which head unit should I buy? Price range - 7k to 9k
(3) Should have it brought and fixed at car dealer itself or from the shop selling HU's? (Can you recommend any store in Bangalore)

Look forward to your inputs.

Thanks,

Victor

Settle for blaupunt MP26 ( Rs 8250) and a pair of Sony XPLOD Speakers at the back( Rs 6000) / A blaupunkt 4 door speaker for Rs 4000.

You cannot listen to music only with the Head Unit, you need the speakers!!!

neel u could get a MP26 for 7.2K without B&W. Go for seperate speakers for front. Componenets are the best for front. Am still confused on the rear speakers though.

@victor, in an OE system, the problem is mostly the speakers, more than the HU. I'd suggest that you change the speakers first and then the HU, to feel some real difference. Changing the HU and keeping the stock speakers will not help much. (That said, the stock speakers in the Verna are somewhat better than the usual lot. But still, if you are spending any money, change the speakers first).

If budget is tightest, change front speakers only.
Next level budget, change front & rear speakers.
Next level budget, change front & rear speakers and HU.

Another not-so-costly way of getting a killer HU is to try and get an OE Alpine 2-DIN set removed off an NHC VTEC on the cheap. You can find quite a few of them around [left behind by people who "upgraded" their NHC VTEC HUs to HUs with a "show-display" ]. You shouldn't have to pay more than 5K for one of those gems. That HU is a direct fit onto the Verna OE location.
