Issues: Samsung S22 Ultra (Android 12) & Pioneer Head-Unit Hi
I have a Pioneer DMH-ZF9350BT in the Crysta & a Pioneer AVH-Z5090BT in the Jazz. Both worked fairly flawlessly until now. I used to use a Samsung Note 9.
I purchased a Samsung S22 Ultra phone (Awesome phone, BTW!) when it was released. Being the latest Samsung flagship, it obviously has Android 12.
The older 5090BT simply refuses bring up Android Auto. The music plays just fine. So, I am reduced to using it as a BT only phone.
In the newer 9350BT, it connected fine but freezes every once in a while. Mostly GPS freezes. The work around seems to be to power down the HU and power back on. It works but is not stable.
I raised the issue to Samsung Community & Pioneeer support. Samsung has ignored the issue until now but at least a lot of people seem to have the issue
My post in the Samsung community is here
Pioneer responded - after asking me to reset everything they said "would like to apprise you that it seems to be compatibility Android Auto issue with your Android 12 device" (Seriously, Sherlock? )
Both cars & the phone have the latest firmware updates installed
I tried various cables, including original Pioneer & Samsung ones. No luck
So, has anyone else faced the issue? Any workarounds until now?
If not, check this before you buy. Hopefully Samsung will release a patch which improves BT Backward Compatibility.
