ICE Troubleshooting - No sound from speakers.

hey guys,

so i hooked up an ICE in my new palio stile 1.6 - pioneer HU, 5 inch blaupunkts in front and 6 X 9 blaupunkts in the rear.

Now i've been having this problem.

Basically, the music system was working perfectly the night before last, then yday morning when i turned on the car - the cd loads, i can select the track, i see the track time ticking on, but no sound from speakers. I try the radio, i can select channels, but again no sound from speakers....

Weird huh...

So i decide to leave work early n take the car to the guys who fitted it -

Turn on the car in the afternoon and everything's working fine!!! Anyway, i took the car for the guy to check out the wiring - he said everything's okay (as in, wiring's fine) and he said if the wiring was messed, even the HU won't work.

Anyway, so i enjoyed the music last evening.

This morning, i turn on the car and same story!?!?!?

Anyone experienced the same thing?? I dunno if it's got something with a cold engine (i dont see how engine can affect the music system) - its got nothing to do with turning on the car lights either. Battery issue??

Oh yeah, when i turn on the HU i hear a small click from the front left speakers - thats all - then onwards, silence is golden.

Anyone experience a similar problem? Or any suggestions?

Also, run another check to see that no speaker wires are shorting, touching the car chassis anywhere.

100% with B&T, undo your speakers and insulate the connectors from the chassis.

Don't take what your installer scraps about wiring. It is causing the problem for sure.

Thanks for the quick response guys, the thing is - the car came pre-wired for 6 speakers by fiat. So now i have 2 options

1. Get fiat to check it out
2. Get the installer to put in new high grade wire instead.

Any idea if i'd lose my warranty for putting in new wiring??

you wont loose you warranty and dont use BOSS wires, they are not high grade no matter what your installer tells you.

Looooong shot. But is there any way moisture could have gotten into the HU? That could be why it works later in the day when its hotter. Like I said, looooooong shot.

Else, like the other said, it has to be a short of some kind.

Yeah, right out of the park it sure is.

With moisture in the HU these arent the only symptoms you'll be getting. And if its on the lens, which is more common, the discs wouldnt be read.

Not really that much out of the park:
1. It is possible that in the cold state, a component is not making contact, but after driving some distance it makes (or when the innards of the HU warm up)
2. If it is loose contact, driving vibrations are taking care of it, as well as undoing it. If everything else is working OK, perhaps the connector block carrying the speaker wires is not inserted all the way in, causing the intemittence

Best way to check would be to give the rear connectors a real good shake to see if the problem shows up / goes away

okay tried it out... checked the music system with the engine completely cold and after having the car off for 3.5 hours... the music system worked perfectly.

Will try again tomorrow morning... this is confusing!

@Uttamc-bhai, what happened? Is it singing still or did it get laryngitis?
