-   -   Frugal ICE - total Rs. 8500 including install (https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-entertainment/26086-frugal-ice-total-rs-8500-including-install.html)

Been a few weeks since I got the Pioneer 2950MP (no B & W) &
Sony XS-GF1622X speakers (2 set - 4 speakers) installed on my
Swift. Total cost including installation charge was Rs. 8500.

I am more than satisfied with it. In my opinion a basic system like
this would sound good enough for most people. A basic system of
today is probably as good as an expensive system of 20 years ago.
Hence if budget is a constraint (it wasn't for me, but still), don't
feel nervous about going for a basic system - I felt nervous &
wondered whether I would repent later.

Got everything at Bafna Motors, Pune - nice, clean job. I probably should
have bargained more - could have probably got it done for Rs. 500 less.

Music played on this is Hindi Film Music (Old & New), variety of Western Oldies (Beatles, ABBA, Simon & Garfunkel, occasionally even Judas Priest).

You are satisfied. End of Story.
Congrats.

It's working fine. It sounds very good.

Well Sony aint the fav of brands on team-bhp, thats what i have read. Though your happy and feel it sounds good then no issues.

I guess mpst here likes Pio cox without bill Pio is unbeatable whenit comes to pricing. Sony is VFM with bill.

the bottom line is "if the user is satisfied then nothing like it"

There are different people with different tastes, some feel sony is bad, some feel sony is great. Just listen to your ears & if you are happy, then 'Nothing else matters'. :)

You have set a good example. Many people go for high end systems b coz of ego. Let us hope some more follow your path.

I can show you Team-BHPians that have spent 25 times that amount and have not achieved this feeling. Congratulations.

And I must thank you for one more thing. Showing our members that one can show off his frugal system, with pride. People are beginning to think we only discuss big and rich audio. Not true.

Post your photos and tell us about your listening experience.

Cheers.

Carboy, Congratulations on your install!

Sam Kapasi, Hon'ble ICE Guru, you're right about the fact that even with the low end setup, when people are satisfied it, its the end. Period. I still have the stock ICE setup on my Ford Ikon, and I've never felt the need to upgrade it. It has the stock HU + 4 stock speakers and it keep me satisfied always, the maximum volume I've ever used is 11 or 12. I've never gone above it lol. In fact this made me wonder whats the maximum volume available on the HU & speakers.

A

Hi guys
on the same topic, i have a sony (i think it is 3420) HU and Blau speakers at the back. I am planning to add a decent pair of 4 inch speakers at the front. Which ones should i go for. I am looking for VFM options and my car is Indica.

Deep, this is carboys thread. Without hijacking it, I will quickly suggest that since you already have Blaupunkt speakers in the rear, why don't you buy a pair of Blaupunkt 4" 2 way front coaxials?

Thanks Sam. I did not want to start another thread, so posted it right here. I just identified myself with Carboy's thoughts :) and wanted a system exactly like that - simple, and cheap - but decent sound.

I wanted to put up this a looong time back, but the money i spent on the ICE didnt deserve a separate thread I thought.

My setup on my Indica

Pio 8xxx ( HU from B&T's garage sale )
JVC 4.5" coaxials in front

Spent close to 8000 INR with installation
HU runs flat, at times i reduce the treble to -1/-2

I am 100% happy with it. It lacks the mid bass I would like but for 8k its really really good and plays neat and clean. Really impressed with the 2k 4.5" JVC.
