iriver FM transmitter and my fiesta OE HU

Gurus,

I wanted to use my iriver clix 2GB with the iriver FM transmitter ( which was bought in USA ) in my Fiesta 1.6 . Unfortunately the cigarette lighter socket does not seem to be compatible with the FM transmitter.

Any ideas, if I have to buy anything else to get it working?

Thanks
tortoise

Only way is the FM transmitter as the Fiesta does not have an aux-in port.

Alternate method of supplying power to the Clix .. check out what's the power input required, the plug/adapter, and any means of supplying that power without using the cig lighter socket.

Hi @tortoise, did not understand what you meant by "Unfortunately the cigarette lighter socket does not seem to be compatible with the FM transmitter".

Does your transmitter look like this?

Cigarette lighter sockets are the same everywhere! Was it a mechanical insertion problem or were you not able to tune the right FM frequency?

If the HU is a sony the lens is under Rs. 500. most FM transmitters are not that good.

Hmm.. i agree with navin on that point. The quality of the music when using a transmitter is a lot different from the the cd. I use both in my fiesta and the difference is quite big! The cd sounds waay better!

its a sanyo navin and if i get a new lens i dont think it will work for more than 3-4 months but still its a better option than to carry another source. also i dont like the concept of connecting an external source through aux or fm as i cant control it from the HU.

i think a better option is to buy a new HU from pio which has direct ipod control. that would be good and future proof(i can install amps etc)

cheers

if you are going that route please ensure that they have 3 pairs of RCA out (front, rear and sub).

dont worry about that. :-) i will definitely get a HU with 3 preouts. also just wanted to ask how much does a hu with low/mid/high preouts cost? if im not wrong alpine has this feature in some models. i might buy that and shift my hu(6850) in the fiesta.

cheers

Alpine is not the only HU with 3 pre outs. Pio, SOny, JVC, Kenwood, Clarion all have 3 preouts.
