Royally confused with Indica ICE upgrade

hey gurus

Have a small problem here.

My existing setup:-

HU-sony Xplod(one of the ealier ones,about 1.5 2 years old)

FRONT-4" pioneers

REAR-6*9 ovals pioneer

SUB-JBl 10" bass tube

powered by a Blaupunkt GTA 2 special series amp.

The problem:-

1.The setup is too rear biased(even though the fader is adjusted towards the front speakers) and i dont have enough control on the bass. Some tracks are too bassy for eg.voodoo by godsmack. Can barely hear the song..its jus the bass.

2.I'm a tad bit on the lazier side and dont wanna burn cd's all that often.lookin for a HU upgrade wid an aux-in so that i can connect my W series ericsson fone.

The options i have thought of:-

1. Changing the HU to pioneer(wid aux in..i think its 6950).

By doing this,i have more control on the bass and after havin tried it out,i

know this performs better than my sony.Atleast sounds to my liking.

When i tried it out and pumped up the volume to jus about 60%,the front

speakers were kinda jarring.

Is this cause of the settings..something i need to fiddle with?

2.cancelling the 4" at the front..and installin a pair of coustic or blaupunkt

components on the front door.(these two sets dont need XO's..thats wht

my installer told me)

3.Gettin a monoblock for the sub and using the existing amp to drive the front speakers.

Even though it doesnt serve my need for another source of music, its fine if it means its gonna be gud quality sound.

The budget:-

Im a newbie by posts, but ive read a hundred times the number of my

posts.Enough to know that the gurus love burning a hole in others pockets

Keepin that and the depth of my pocket as of now in

mind..settin the budget to 8k.The confusion is cause of the budget that makes it difficult to decide..so gurus..please play around with everything but the budget.

cheers

if you want your soundstage to move to the front you need to give it a bit more attention.

I'm told the Indica has speaker locations in the front doors as well as dash(which is what you have used for the 4" pioneers). Budget for good 6" components 5K.

if so the first order of the say would be upgrade the front speakers to 6" components. Stick the woofer in the door and the tweeter in the dash locations used by the Pioneer then you could add the monoblock and use the existing amp for the front speakers. Budget for good monoblock 10K.

I hate to say but in 8k you would manage to get a new HU only.

for a mono you would need another 7k (sony) or 9k (pioneer D510)

for the front component it would be about 6k for both Illusion Electra and JBL GTO series.

and if you buy another amp, you'll have to spend on wires and installation. that would be around

1k for an interconnect(2ch)
1k for power cable and install(boss cables)

i would suggest not to buy boss cables. You can buygood power cables for around 2-3k(connection audison) otherwise you can buy finolex, l&t cables for much less.

cheers

Boss is a total scrap don't ever go for it. Also Audison cable is the best but it very expensive for the job it is required for.

Go for finolex, L&T, Havells is best for power wire job...

here is the today prices with sizes..

0 gauge - 50 mm.sq - Rs 238 per meter
2 gauge - 35 mm.sq - Rs 164 per meter
4 gauge - 25 mm.sq - Rs 123 per meter
6 gauge - 16 mm.sq - Rs 76 per meter
8 gauge - 10 mm.sq - Rs 76 per meter

for a normal amp like 75.4 4 gauge is more than enough. and in a car max 5+1 meter is required. it means Rs 738 or we can say Rs 750.

@navin,LBM n clipto..thanks for the advice,though im still a little confused.
Im upgrading my ICE step by step(primarily cause i cant convince my dad at one go for everything).

@navin..sir,my installer(rhyme n rhythm) showed me a pair of coustic and blaupunkt components that run fairly well without an amp or so they claim.Any input on this?
If this is true,i can run my present bass tube with the amp it is powered by,and look for increasing my budget(not too likely but i can still give it a shot) and get the head unit also.

My installer also mentioned more control over the bass and sound in general, said that i could accurately change settings to suit different songs with the pio HU.Will this solve my problem of my system being rear biased or are components the sole solution?

sir, any particular reason why u recommend the front dash for the tweeters?i have seen quite a few setups in bhpians garages where the tweeters are adjacent to the compos on the door.
sorry for askin so many questions..mostly gettin the setup(if i decide by tonite) done tomorrow.

hi guys
Finally got over the confusion after spending hours at my installers' and ofcourse due to advice from the gurus.
Got the DlS componet set installed.
Sub in the door panel(stock location) and tweeters mounted on the dash.
I was told that these dont need amps which is why i went in for it,plannin an amp for later.

THe sound is now a LOT more balanced and i can pump up d volumes to quite a bit more, without the sound hurting my ears. That wasnt the criteria but its jus a by product of the package.MAINLY sounds clear, more resolution and balanced.
also replaced my stock parcel tray with an MDF one.Makes quite a difference.

cost-
DLS component set-6999
rest not sure..totally worked out to be 8100
thanks for the advice guys, happy with the sound now.
cheers
