@flipflop how much importance do you give to the DSP and amps, in comparison to the actual speakers?

For me the speakers takes precedence in car audio. Because, unlike home home audio, the chances to audition high end car audio speakers is rare. So I tend go with my installers suggestions based upon my preferences. And this is where trust plays an important role too.
After speakers it’s the amplifiers. Because, the speakers and amplifiers( to a reasonable extent ) are future proof technology wise.
But processing and source can change. So I prioritise speakers first, then the amps and then the DSP and the source in that order

No doubt this audiophile setup deserves top kudos!

But Im going to give you 5 star rating for those wicked photographs!

Cheers and enjoy the music.

For some perspective, Bentley now has an optional 20 speaker system for their most expensive model. It costs about 26L.

I am not an audiophile as you are, but I do appretiate good sound when on drives. This is one of the reason I got the Volvo S90 with the B&W sound system. I have witnessed many folks who swear by their lives that this is the best "stock" sound system in the world (I tend to agree too :)), and this just costs $3200, a mere 10% of the cost of your system.
Fun fact: The subwoofer is mounted to the chassis when the B&W system is fitted in the factory so that the bass is clearly noticeable in the whole car. Attaching the technical specs for the B&W system if anyone is interested.
!

Its undeniably the best system in its class. I have heard this on both the S90 and XC60 and it has always impressed me. Its one of those systems where you can feel the music than simply listening to it. This was my first exposure to the B&W range when I heard them 5-6 years back and so much so that I started acquiring the B&W PX7 range of headphones, the Zeppelin streaming speaker ( which is incredible) and next eying the 603s for my HT room.

The ones in the Volvos uses the same/ similar drivers from their high-end systems and its custom tuned/ tailor made for the chassis like you said. Its why it sounds the way it does. I hope you are feeding the highest lossless music formats into the system for that unadulterated listening pleasure. I am sure the same/ similar system would cost much higher than $3200 as Volvo would have the benefit of economy of scale with Bowers, in this case allowing them to cut costs and let buyers option it. I am glad they made it standard in India with the inscription variant.

I would love to hear flipflop's system and see how it fairs against the B&W in the Volvo.

Such an astonishing upgrade, literally price-no-bar situation a lot of folks would love to be in one day. I'm no expert audiophile, just an awed spectator.

My only question is, how would you guarantee peace of mind in terms of security of your purchase(s)? How can you even park your car on a corner of the street without being worried to death of a break-in? Any tips/preparation for stuff like that? Your car was even in the news recently. A lot of unwanted eyes on the prize (touchwood)

Also, what would someone like you do in case you suddenly find a rattling noise somewhere in the interiors of the car? I feel like this is a tongue-in-cheek question, but I have had two rattles that took me months to fix and I really got rattled by them, so someone who needs their peace through this kind of audio setup, I would love to hear from. :uncontrol

With his setup, increase the volume by 2 notches. :D

Did Mr Kartik suggest any foolproof anti theft devices post your audio installs? That would have been the 1st thing I would have gotten done in my car if I had an audio setup as yours. lol:

@flipflop, many congratulations on the dream setup. As GTO mentioned, keeping the pricing aside, the key is to enjoy what you absolutely aspire and love most. Happy motoring.

Hi there brilliant work !! Never I have ever heard anyone spending so much for the car accessories in india .
BTW just wanted to know ,Did you upgrade the car battery also ? I am pretty sure that the OEM car battery may not be liking it as much as you are clap:

Good you are not in Kerala. The MVD would have noticed this and poked their nose around!

Kidding aside, just how much of a distraction would this awesome looking setup be on the road?

What’s up with Kerala? I read somewhere long back that they poke a bit, are they still doing so? What exactly happens if one has an upgraded music system in Kerala?

As for the distraction bit, as someone who has an oomphed up music system myself, I really think it works the opposite - keeps you calm and composed and lessens fatigue either in city or on long journeys!

Kerala cops don't mind sound systems in private cars or moderate sunfilms. They mostly target auxilary lights, horns and race inspired cosmetic modifications (RICE)

Thanks a lot. The OE is connected to the Brax so that I don't miss out on the safety feature alerts and the ability to answer calls via Bluetooth. However, the primary source is the CAYIN N8ii. Its a portable DAP with class A and Tube modules, and that's where I play my music from. I use lossless audio, and my primary app is Amazon Music. I download it onto the DAP and play from that.

I will try to upload a video once I find time over the weekend.

The breakup is as follows;

1. Utopia M(3 way + Sub) - 7,50,000
2. Brax DSP with HD USB - 7,50,000
3. Helix Conductor - 20,000
4. Ground Zero Reference - 8,25,000(2,75,000 * 3)
5. Sound Proofing - 2,55,000
6. Cables (Techrnov Gold) - speaker cables and RCA - 1,50,000
7. Fabrication, Installation and Tuning - 1,50,000

The installation was done in two stages. First, with the Helix ultra and once the Brax arrived, the second stage consisted of the Brax install and the mid-bass fabrication. The Sonet Boot is so cramped, and the amount of time and effort that went into getting three Class A biased amps in them while providing sufficient space for heat vents was humongous.
Also, the Utopia Sub needed at least a volume of around 23 litres against the 16 litres specified in their tech data sheet. This is the volume it performed to its best. Getting 23 litres in the boot without sacrificing a significant portion of the boot was a challenge, and the guys at Speedfreaks pulled that off amazingly.
Almost close to 250-300 actual hours of work went into the entire installation and I feel that I got a great deal towards the installation fee.

Hello @ FlipFlop,
First of all congratulations on getting your audio setup done:)!
I see that money is no object for you in getting what you want for your Audio Setup, that's good for installers but bad for other to take inspiration from who cannot afford to spend the same.
I wouldn't call myself an Audiophile, but I try objectively, quantify and relate things so that I reach as close as possible to perfection within the allowed budget.
Since I'm building audio setup in my car on my own, in the process learnt quite a few things.
As Peter for PS Sound says - Location, Application, Installation and tuning should be the basis to any audio setup in a car. - Pls follow, you won't be disappointed - https://youtube.com/@pssound9749?feature=shared

I have couple of questions, if you don't mind could you pls respond?
1. Can you share before and after installation RTA results, so people can objectively understand where stock system was and how is sounded after upgrade
2. Why didn't you go for Focal Utopia 8inch mid bass, any particular reason?
3. Was installation of Mid range speakers in dashboard considered? - as it improved corner loading and also keeps your A-pillar a lot slimmer.
3. Were there any Cancellations at any particular frequency in Sonet, if yes may I know how it was tackled?
4. One of the Main features of Helix/BRAX/Match is Differential Rear fill (gives room information) and Center fill. May i Know why these unique features which make your listening experience even better were not utilized in your audiosystem?
5. What is the lowest frequency the Focal subwoofer is playing and at what db?
6. Have you considered true Infinite baffle setup of your subwoofer, if you have a possibility try to get Acoustic Elegance IB sub in your next Audio setup do pls get it.

For a good Car Audiosetup with you need a car with good NVH and rattle free doors which basically Hyundai/Kia are very bad at.
How much damping you do it doesn't matter, energy of the Midbass is going to be wasted unless the wall separating the front and back side of the speaker is very rigid. Pls watch - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UI1OQdDMKdg.

Will be waiting for your response!
