ovals or subwoofer???

I've heard that it is not advisable to have oval speakers along with a sub, as it nullifies the former? Is this true?
thanks in advance,
Ashwin

Not true. Depends on how you configure the crossovers etc. Ovals can be a rich source of midbass in the car.

For that matter, most oval speakers have a very high resonant frequency, >70 Hz. If your sub is not playing into this territory, usually there is no question of much cancellation occurring.

True. I second that. Like B&T said all depends how the crossovers are set.

also that boosted midbass can help compensate for road noise. it is just that with a subwoofer one can get away with using 6" coax instead of a 6x9.

There are many people who prefer the mid-bass whack a 6X9 can offer. In fact they even overlap the crossover points.

But there's no nullification, no.
