New Mercedes-Benz MBUX virtual assistant uses AI to offer human-like interactions At the ongoing CES 2024, Mercedes-Benz has previewed a new MB.OS infotainment system that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to offer human-like interactions with its drivers & passengers. The new operating system will debut on the production version of the Concept CLA-Class.
As per reports, the new OS will come with a new MBUX virtual assistant, which will offer the most "human-like interface" using generative AI and proactive intelligence. Mercedes-Benz claims that the virtual assistant can offer "helpful suggestions based on learned behaviour and situational context." This includes reading the news in the morning & controlling the seat's massage function as per the driver's preference at the end of a working day.
Reports also state that the assistant will have four "personality traits", which include natural, predictive, personal & empathetic. These traits will allow the virtual assistant to replicate a conversation similar to talking to a friend. This is said to eliminate the need for the driver to say "Hey Mercedes" to activate the voice assistant. The system can even ask "intelligent questions" of its own to answer questions and seek clarification.
The new MB.OS also comes with a new Surround Navigation System offering 3D graphics to provide occupants with a more detailed map showcasing different types of traffic like cars, vans, trucks and even pedestrians.
