Imported Alpine HU

I am planning on Buying a decent audio System for my Indica Xeta GLG with a budget around 12K.
For this im thinking of getting an Alpine HU CDE9873 from abroad as it works out cheaper.Would this work fine???If so,Then what should be the things that could go well along with it?A woofer is 1 thing im looking for.
If not what should be the Ideal Combination for good acoustic effect.

I have an Alpine 9807 head running in my car which is from the US. Some USA Heads don't have multiple FM area support, and cant play FM, mine works fine though.

Heres a thread I found on the crutchfield forum discussing FM radio tuning for american/European markets. It isn't clear though whether the remedy provided is for the kenwood or alpine hu being discussed.

Alpine 9887 From US FM to Europen FM - Crutchfield Community

Can somebody shed some light on this? Ive Pm d Hydrashok, hopefully he will be able to paint a clear picture.

I'm kinda dumb on the radio side (never use radio, don't even have an antenna in my car). My HU manual doesn't mention anythig about US/European tuning system either. But here are a few threads that discuss the same thing.

Like you said, the Crutchfield thread doesn't really let us know whether the fix mentioned there works or not.

In Alpine's the method is here goes. Long press the button marked "Setup" and then toggle through the options using the track up & down buttons. One option will be "Area" here you can select 1 or 2 using the source button. Area 1 is for US frequencies while Area 2 is for Indian frequencies.

P.S. This is for an Alpine 9813 but seeing how Alpine interface is I would expect it to work in the newer sets too.

Because the link is missing the forum name part ("ask-gurus") - you can see that if you do a mouse-over on the link.

The correct link is http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/ask-gu...1-h-u-u-s.html
