Finally ...... Scorpio ICED...

After driving without ICE for almost a month, first waiting for my container to arrive , then racking my brains for the speakers/installer selection , Ayudha pooja taking a week, and last but not the least ,not having time to send the car in for a day that the installer needed.. my Scorpio is finally ICED...

The Setup:

Headunit: Alpine CDA 7894
Amp : JL Audio 6450 6 channel
Sub : JL Audio 10w0.8
Front: Alpine SPR 17LS on the front door, with 3 inches of spacers
Rear: Polk DB 4x6 coaxials in the stock location with 1.5 inches of spacers
Power Cable: 4 guage Pyle..wanted Audison but didnt get.. Will upgrade later.
Speaker Cables: Scosche
RCA interconnects: Monster

After a lot of deliberation on where to mount the sub, finally decided to put it in a wedge box in the back.

Amp is under the drivers seat - makes it reaaaaaally easy to tune..

I have to say, it was well worth spending the 6k for power and speaker cables alone..

I am terrible at describing how a setup sound, but after a loooong time I could hear Jagjit Singh unadulterated.

Thaye Yashoda from morning raga had me trembling and Tears in heaven did bring a tear to my eye..

Pics will come as soon as my sis returns from her trip and I get my digicam back..

Congats, @prabhuav! Enjaaay maadi - we can feel the music through your description.

Container? Did you pick up all the stuff from US? How much did each individual piece cost?

Cool. E6450 *is* something. Where did you source that 7894 from? Is it a pull from an older vehicle? Also, I agree there is no substitute to listening, but why 3 different brands of speakers? How well do the tones of Alpine and Polk match?

Navin, the gap between the frame and the panel is over 2.5" in a scorpio. Took 3.5 spacers of .75" +a 6mm on the door panel itself..

Same holds for the stock location above the tailgate

Yes it is .. I bought the 7894 used from a guy for 170$ -he put a dva 300 in his car. I got the amp and the sub from another for 300$ - this guy had it in his Volvo that he was returning after lease..

I wanted either focal or JL comps, but did not have enough time before I left.. Out here the Infinity and the Alpine comps were the ones within my budget and the Alpine sounded better..

The only reason I got Polk is coz that is the only decent 4x6 I could source..

They sound pretty decent together as I have them both filtered at different frequencies.. The Alpines are HPed at 30Hz and the Polks at 110..
The Sub is LPed at 90 though..

The polk seems to be filling the gap that the woofer and the tweeter up front seem to be having well
