Focal speaker voice coil smooshed. Need help!!!

Hey guys,

I brought Focal 165 k2ps with me from the Stats. Either on the flight or even before I got them, the voice coil of one of the woofers got smooshed. Will the speakers still work? If they do, do I need to take any precautions during installation, that the smooshed voice coil doesnt become a problem.

If the speakers wouldn't work, how could I fix it? Is the warranty valid in India and for this?

advise. Pictures are in the following post. Any help would be appreciated. thanks a lot.

hi cleansound, firstly what do you mean by smooshed..and still theres no pics!
ne ways ..warranty will not be valid in india.if theres any technical problem you cannot fix it yourself .it is better to give them for replacement in the states itself.pics will be helpful in your case to decide whether the woofer is safe to run or not.good luck

These are the corrected links. I think what you think is the voice coil is actually the Spider.

Moralfibre thanks for the links and correction on the spider.

New here, had a real hard time getting the pics uploaded and still couldn't do it properly.

Well taking it back to the states is not an option. So any other solutions you guys have in mind? Is it possible to buy just one of these woofers in India?

gently push the dustcap of the cone then when it is pushed as far as it will go easily leave it and see if the whole cone moves back and forth without scraping against something.

often some visible damage does nothing to the physics of the driver.
