As far as I have seen tuning the new players the SQ is better than last year's model to model,
I don't like the 5050 Jogdial, the 4050 feels better built,

The way the equalizer works is completely different compared to last years models, so I'd say the 6050 should sound better than 7950.
I could have vouched for it if I had tuned one, but that has not happened yet, hence can't be that sure yet.

@blueraven, what does one mean when they say "tune" a HU - do you mean tweaking equalizer settings or something else?

@karanraheja, I agree with you. I was not happy with the price as well. But such is life, and since it's a one time buy I can deal with it. But if you have the luxury of patience, I believe prices are expected soon to drop significantly once the scarcity in the market tides over.

@vebmetal : Thanks for your comments. Problem is im getting my vehicle delivered around Mid April so i can wait till April end also. BUt anything beyond that is impossible. When exactly you see prices dropping??? problem is my budget is only 12k so if i get 6050 for 9-10 k...i can put only front or back speakers...as of now im unable to stretch my budget!:Frustrati

Thats 10k for the player, 300 for the install, 100 for fuel and You've got 1600 for the speakers , Enjoy. :p

I suggest you get a really cheap CD player for the time being and get better speakers and change over to a 6050 or anything else when money permits. BTW, what car ?

Am starting to look at kenwoods by the way. Looks like they have lots of models for 2008. Alpine has a stupid strategy..it's either CD+ipod or USB+ipod so I guess kenwood will be the next in line to look for.

I think we are on the same page - the random (or rather unrandom) feature of the Pioneers has left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. But apart from that the 6050 is a good HU. I wish I listened to CDs or had an iPod - it would be no problem then. But USB flash drive without Random = :Frustrati

And I too shyed away from Alpines for the same reason.

As for which 2008 Kenwood HU, time (or more appropriately, price) will tell! :) But it would have to be one with a good 3+line display. So right now I have my eye on the KDC-BT7539U.

The 6050UB is out in market, feels a little better to use than the 5050 on the enterior, the features on EQ etc is the same as the 7950.
