Even if the HU has an aux in, you need an RCA cable with single 3.5mm jacks at either end.

The manual should tell you if it has a 3.5mm aux. If no and the HU has CD changer module at the back then you need to use the following jugaad : Pioneer IP-BUS Hack

Yes, the Pio manual for FH-P5000MP says you need those cables that you mentioned (CD-RB10/20) for connecting the EP-to-RCA cable that you have.

Is the HU in India or in US?

LBM-maharaz, your wizardry is required for this: does he need to buy the cable or is there an ersatz available? Is the Pio cable readily available?

The method in S0uljah's link should also work, One wouldn't expect the IP-Bus pin-out to be different.

You dont have to do any mods to the HU and the hack works like a dream.

If your friend can afford the original cable then go for it... these cheap 10rs sasta jugaad type stuff is exciting though

Yup the jugaad will work just fine. But if you want a ready made solution you can ask Rana @ Driven. I remember they used to have them.

Hey ICE gurus, need help with a basic and repetitive question

I have a Sony CDX-F7700 HU which does not have USB support. I am pretty satisfied with the CD playback quality, however the CD burning task has got boring. Now I want to connect a normal MP3 player (not an IPOD) through the stereo headphone jack of the MP3 player to the AUX-in at the rear of the HU. Do I need a simple RCA to stereo cable to be able to connect or any other specific cable ? How will be the sound quality ?

Link to the HU specs.

CDX-F7700 (CDXF7700) : Manual : Car audio : Sony

Diagram of the back of the Sony HU.

Notorious, The wire won't cost you more than 10 or 20 bucks, get it from nehru place. I'm slightly disoriented at the moment. Have u figured whether the player has aux in or not?

The AUX-in is the left-most pair of RCA sockets, indicated in the diagram by "BUS AUDIO IN / AUX-IN".

Ask for an EP-to-RCA converter cable - one end will have the plug that goes into the headphone socket of your MP3 player, the other end will have a pair of RCA plugs that go into the RCA sockets of the HU.
