Bangalore FM radio reception

Hi!

While driving between Windsor Manor bridge and minsk square, I've observed that the radio reception on the OE blaupunkt in a tata safari becomes jumbled and you hear mutiple stations playing at the same frequency.

I've experienced this twice.

Wondering if this is a result of the Internal Antenna or is something wrong with my head unit.

i dont experience this anywhere else.

Is this for all stations or only Radio City 91.1? I've experienced multiple stations at 91.1 while in Chennai. In Bangalore, I mostly stick to Indigo 91.9 and haven't experienced it.

Don't recollect any issues with reception beneath Windsor Manor Bridge but will check again.

I drive through that area almost daily, but havent faced such a problem. I'm using a Blaupunkt Autofun internal antenna, mounted on my windscreen.
HU is an Alpine. Stations I normally tune in to are 91.1, 91.9, 94.3, 104.3

Nothing to worry its a common thingy. I have noticed and experienced this several times and I travel that route twice a day.

One major reason I can think of is that after Hotel Capitol there is a Radio Station (cant remember which one though).

Guys, have y'all forgotten good old ALL INDIA RADIO opposite Raj Bhavan?

You are below the massive high power AM antennae footprint between Minsk Square, Vidhana Soudha, Chalukya circle, old Golf Course and the circle near Express building!!! And the massive RF power is enough to make any FM receiver go cock-eyed. If you are at all getting FM reception it would be due to the shielding by the higher buildings.

FM radio signals are prone to capturing effect or something like that, under certain conditions. This is what you are experiencing.

see -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capture_effect

Today is my 3rd day in BLR and I can say that some channels like mirchi and others have pretty bad reception. Fever on the other hand is quite loud and clear

For a small patch under a bridge, you have so much tensionu? Chill maadi, it is vokay.

I used to stay on Infantry Road (when I was in Bangalore) and radios at my place had a hard time picking up FM channels. If they did, it would generally be distorted.

Some FM channels are having poor transmission quality. It also depends on your instrument.
