Ice Set Up For Baleno
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-entertainment/36061-ice-set-up-baleno.html)
I needed advice on the ICE set uo in my Baleno. What I have now is as follows
Pioneer 9650 Head unit, Polk audio db series 100watt Rms rear 6*9 and Cervin Wega 5 1/4" Components in the front. No sub woofer and I am not keen on one.
I listen to Radio most of the time and cd/mp3 on higways. I am looking for crystal clear music which has tight bass and crystal clear treble.
Do i need an amplifier? If yes which one and the approximate price. Please help me on this matter at the earliest.
My thoughts.
- See if you can get hold of a JBL 75.4 amp. Max 10K I guess.
- Change front compos to 6.5". 4to5K after exchanging/selling your Polks.
- Damp the front doors well. Say 4K
- Wiring and installation. Approx 3-4K.
Dump the Cerwin Vega 5.25's, keep the Polk 6x9.
First change the front speakers (check if you can put in 6.5" drivers) any of these: Infinity Reference, JBL GTO, Blaupunkt THx, Hertz Energy, Illusion Electra. See if it sounds better for you with your HU.
For even better sound, drive the speakers with an amp. Will cost you 8-12K + another 3-4K for wiring. Amp: JBL, Blaupunkt, Alpine, even Pioneer. Don't buy sub-standard wiring kits such as Boss etc., instead either buy Scosche or Monster or similar reputed one, or buiy Finolex / L&T cables for power, and buy good RCA and speaker cables.
As @shuvc mentioned, get the doors damped - it makes the whole thing much better.
U seem preety satisfied with your audio but need a little more right ?
You already have Components in the Front and 6"X9" in the Rear now what you miss is a JBL GT5-604; 4 channel full range amp that would take your audio to the next Level.
No clue of what it cost but i'm assuming around 5 k for it.

Yup, 5K in grey. @Vista2Swift got it recently - you could check with him where he got it from.
Don't forget, you will need to spend an additional ~3K for wiring and ~4K for damping to get the maximum out of adding the amp.
Do away with your 5.25 " Front Comps ... Get 6.5" ( Audition the Hertz, Infinity, Illusion , JBL , GZ , DLS, Rainbow ... ) .. decide accoeding to your taste ..
Get a 12" / 10" sub ( ID, RF, JBL are good )
Get a 4 channel amplifier.. use 2 channels for fronts
Other 2 in bridged mode for the SUB
You can buy a Kenwood 8401 in grey .. a very good buy for arnd 4-5k
For the rears ..
You can stick to your Polks.. they sure are good speakers but if you are not using an amp to drive them, you wouldn't get desired output..
So get GZ rear speakers ... ( some 691 Mk2 ) ...
..........
As mentioned : Get the doors damped and use quality wiring...
Rahul .....
my friend if you want good bass and treble then jbl gto607c are the right components for you, you see they have the signature sound of the rock the lows and highs!
since you dont have an amp and have second thoughts on getting one, all i would say is get these components first but please do audition them first, they might get a little too bright for some's taste and just right for some!
also as you are not keen on getting a sub you will need good bass from these itself so get the jbl's gt5 amp and these speakers they should do the job imo!
I just installed the JBL 1004 amp,I guess this is an overkill on the speakers I got, I am very satisfied with the clarity I have , but the front components tend to jar. Theze are 5.5 inch Cervin vegas. The rear are 70 watt Polks 690. Any suggestions. Also where in Bangalore could I go to get the setup done on the amp

Great man!! I have been hunting around for someone with the 1004. I guess you are the first in T-BHP to own a 1004. cheers:
How much did it cost ?? with Bill & warranty??
Can you give a little review on it. A few pics will be great too!
Try reducing the gain for the front comps to reduce the jarring.
hey praveen, the photos I guess are available on the JBL sitew itself, it costed me about 9300 in the grey
