Smile Car Audio Advice from the Audio Gurus: Use "Search thread" before posting a new Q!

Howdy! I was introduced to this forum by Revvhead, who I see has put up a few pictures of the old JBL palio.
Well i have a lot of pictures of great sounding cars (naturally), which i'll put up sometimes.
Nice to be here, hope to meet some interesting folks.

Ok so... I'm happy to offer advice on Car Sound. Like serious advice. I'm what you call "qualified"

Maybe i should start up a new car audio thread, dunno, help me here.

Welcome to the league of extraordinary petrol heads!!...

What music system set up do u advice for a wagonr.
I am inclined to sony. And dont want to fit a hifi system for a small car.
Also i do not want to put up the rear tray for speakers, since it nullifies the advantage of a wagonr - push back seats!!!

hi Conan, The Wagon R accomodates only one pair of 4" in the front. You may find the sound a little lacking on bottom end (aka bass) if you run just the fronts. Sony HEad units make good sense at the price.
Certain installers will attach a plywood tray to the rear hatch door and mount a pair of 6X9 ovals in the back too. Often the job can be just a little shoddy, so be careful there.
I agree, dont put a tray, it's stupid and can rattle too.

Hey thanks for the prompt reply.
I was thinking of buying the F5610 and
16 cm 2 way speakers for all 4 doors.
4" speakers at the front and a couple of tweeters near the rearview mirror.
What do u think?

Lightbulb Car Audio Advice - given!

Hi. My first day here, so please be nice.

I'm in the car audio business, because i LOVE it. I'd be happy to offer any advice you may seek on your car audio system (new purchase, tweaks, tunes and general pish-pash)

Work is hectic but will try and return to this forum twice a day to help.

Cheers!

Just what we need, another car audio expert

J/K. welcome to the club Sam, I'm sure you're gonna have to log in more than twice a day to answer the multitude of queries on I.C.E. systems.

I see you are a JBL guy. What would your dream set up be?

Dream setup..... hmmmm. I'd pretty much say 3 barely clothed blondes, seated in a super sports car.
Honestly, there isnt a dream car setup. It varies from person to person and every genre of music is best suited to a different kind of speaker. Once could get highly technical and complicated, but somewhere we forget why we're doing all this and forget to listen to the song....
The company has about 5 cars that i drive around, and personally i'm not a sound pressure level guy, those those are also the people we cater to.
I listen to a lot of classic rock and afrojazz and i prefer the sound of Infinity components. However Firoz, our Mumbai car audio manager pooh poohs anything but JBL (not for the most obvious reasons lol) because, well he listens to House Music. Boom Boom Boom and another Boom. Boom=JBL.
In my lancer i have a fairly simple setup (dont say yeah right) i use infinity kappa components in the front, Infinity kappa 6X9s with emit, 2 JBL amps (one 4 ch ad one 2 ch) and a JBL GTO bass tube in the back, with a nice alpine Head Unit.
Ghar ki murghi, daal barabar. lol

I would have thought an audiophile would not go near coaxials? Or so I have been lead to believe...

It's a balance. You'd be surprised how much used ad abused that term "audiophile" (shudder) is.

I hate wiring and cutting in a car. I like the system to look factory fit. (big words from the JBL guy lol, have you seen our cars, most of them have no SEATS )

Coaxials can be nice sounding. Cars dont provide ideal listening positions. All car audio is a compromise to a true audiophile.

So what, in your opinion, would be the ideal speaker set up for an Octi, keeping the stock speaker mountings (yes, even the rears!)?

Tricky. The octavia actually does accomodate comps both in the front and rear (using the chota jaggahs where you open the door)

Unfortunately, the tweeter then sort of fires at the elbows of the rear pax.
The advantage of using a 5.25 co-ax in the rear pod is that due to the angle of the glass on the notchback, you can actually hear some of the reflected highs upfront.
I'd say, 6" compos front, 5.25 high power coaxs in the rear and some enclosed sub. Tube or box, depending on the kind of sound you like. I actually have some Killer photos of one of our Octavias. But no clue how to show you these.
