Basic ICE for Santro Xing - issue of non-availability of equipment

Hello everyone,

I've been following the ICE forums on t-BHP for quite sometime now.
I must say it has really opened my eyes and helped me see beyond "Xplod" as far as car audio is concerned!!
Thanks a lot guys!

About my query:
You see a friend of mine (In Noida) recently bought a Santro CNG GLS. He wanted to fit a basic ICE system budget < 12K.
(No, It can't be inflated as per t-bhp standard practice!!!)

His basic requirements were: HU with USB, Speakers in stock positions (No rear parcel tray allowed). No Amps/ Subs even in the future.

My recommendations were:
HU: Pio DEH-3050UB
Front Speakers: JBL GTO 427
Rear Speakers: JBL GTO 527 /627

Strangely, this is what many car accessory dealers in Noida are saying:
1. Pio XX50 series is only available in grey as it is not for Indian market. Go for XX90 series.

2. GTO series is only for international market. India men toh sirf GT5 bikta hai!!

These dealers are all based in Sec-16, Noida. I would not like to name them here.

Can anyone (Sam??) throw some light on this?

Cheers,
tuhinz.

Just checked out the pio india website. It appears that of the XX50 series, only the 6050UB is sold in India. The rest (5050/4050/3050/2050) seems to be replaced by 5090/4090/3090/2090.

But how about the JBL speakers? Why would the dealers say that they are not for the Indian market?

Can anyone let me know of any reputed car audio dealers in Noida?

Tuhinz - Instead of Sec-16, Noida go to Lajpat Nagar market. Better dealers then Noida there & more choice of equipment is available.

For a basic install Lajpat guys are good enough.

iraghava

Ill have to ask my friend to get his car to Lajpat nagar.

But seriously (maybe i'm OT here) can't something be done about these whole lot of dealers who are trying to fleece customers by spreading utter FUD about these well known brands?

Other than that.. any suggestions of improving the setup that I mentioned above? (At the same cost I mean !!)

Thanks a lot!

You can also try DRIVEN @ F7 East of Kailash (main road). I have seen them stock JBL GTO series and they do a neat install.

I agree with Iraghava. Lajpat and Karol Bagh will have more brands to choose from.

Sorry Tuhinz, audio is not my field of expertise so it would be unfair on my part to recommend anything on that front. We have a lot more guru's who can offer you better & more relevant advice on this.

Hi Guys,

Finally got my friend's car audio setup completed.
Since he was on a budget of ~12K, we resisted all sorts of temptations thrown our way at "Driven" and got the following equipment:

HU: Pio 5050 (w/o B/W)
Front 2-way Coax: DCX100 4 "
Rear 2-way Coax: DCX130 5 1/4 "

Total cost of system: Rs 12925 /-
For the budget, the setup was really great. The Hertz Dieci speakers were really a revelation- Amazing sound clarity for the price!

Lucky for us, Gunbir drove in just as the system was being installed!!

(Thanks Gunbir for spending so much time with us and tweaking the settings on the HU as well as for the demo of Revhard's ICED- Safari!
Had a gr8 time man! cheers

I must also mention that the installers at Driven did a good job. Mr Rana was very cordial & offered "t-bhp discount" on the speakers!!

Most importantly, my friend went home a very satisfied man!

Thanks to all you guys for the help.

Tuhinz.
