Difference in Pioneer HUs?

I was checking out Pioneer models and talking to a few friends. It seems that 6950IB/UB was a hugely popular model till Q3 last year and then 6050/5050 were launched.

I did not seem to find too many difference between these 3 models, part from the fact that 5050/6050 have inbuilt USB/iPod capability whereas in 6950 one needs to purchase the USB/iPod adapter. The prices of 6950 and 6050 are almost same as well.

Are there any other difference between the models? Why do some people still prefer the 6950?

As I said in the 1st post, I know of atleast 3 people who have recently (~3-4 weeks ago) got 6950 installed. I guess they must be preferring it still!
The question is why??

Ask them! I don't have a clue... maybe it's much cheaper, and these are people who would never use USB.

I think the build quality of 6950IB is better as compared to 5050 & 6050.

5050 & 6050 are built to price

Reasons for the 6950IB

I think it might be the fact that the 6950 is more readily available in the market, even if 'obsolete'. I liked the specs and the price (especially compared to lower spec Blaupunkts) and it was available when i got it a month ago. The cable is the downside, but the head unit allows full control of my iPod classic. It has worked like a charm. I do not seem to have got the dimmer feature to work though. Anyone?

I agree the build quality of the 6960 is better than the current series.

@CR, what is the problem with the dimmer??

There is a dimmer input wire for HU which needs to be connected to some other wire(which gets 12V when parking lights are on). The answer is there somewhere in ICE section, poster is SAM KAPASI.
