All CDs? Some CDs? Same place in the same CD (even after ejecting and re-inserting)? Random? Car in motion or standstill? Subwoofer on / off?

Could you please try with sub off?

Probably you need to get your unit serviced properly - might just overcome the odd loose connection in the unit.

By skipping I hope you mean the abrupt "chhik ... chhik" type of noise that comes, not short periods of silence. If it is periods of silence, then the problem is something else.

OK, now that is different - nothing wrong with the CD player. Possible causes:
* If all channels AND sub go off, Intermittent loose contact in the HU, OR
* If only one of [front, rear or sub] goes off, the appropriate connection to the amp is having loose contact

You haven't mentioned your ICE configuration. You were having doubts about 2ch/4ch amp, and you wanted to connect an iPod. So do you have 2 speakers or 4?

OK, easy tests:

1. Do BOTH the sub and the speakers go silent when the CD music stops intermittently? If so, there is a loose contact in the CD player.

2. Does this happen also while playing FM/AM radio? If yes, then the HU amp is overheating (borderline) and cutting out in that situation

Does it skip even when the car is stationary, or only when engine running and car moving

Get your lens cleaned. This sounds like you have dust on your lens. You can run a cleaning CD, or open the HU and get the lens cleaned. And if you do remove your HU to clean the lens, do not forget to check for any loose connections on the rear.

OK.

Could be a simple loose contact, or dust on the travel mechanism, or could be a bad lens (less likely, since you have already cleaned it). Any chance of getting the HU serviced in Patiala?
