JVC or Pioneer DVD, Which one to Buy?

Already have 4*JBL 607 AD GT5 12 WITH GTO 75.4 Amp. Now I need to replace my Sony CD Player with a DVD Player. Shortlisted th two, help me to choose the best:

1. Pioneer DVH-P6050UB
2. JVC KD-DV7305

I have to pay 3K more for Pioneer, Will it worth? Which one give good video quality? Looking for Sound Quality than SPL

Thanks. I have a doubt. Will JVC KD DV7305 plays DVD Movies which has Dolby Digital 5.1 Audio? Will it output 6 separate audio channels?

Nope, the JVC does Front + Rear + Sub out only. It does however have a digital out which streams Dolby Digital / DTS data. You will however need an external processor to do the decoding. Better to move up in the JVC product range and get one of the AVX series HUs which have built in 5.1 processing.

Yes! Get the Avx series. Not that you require 5.1 sound in a car environment but for better features.

It's better to go for good front, rear, sub setup than 5.1 in a car environment. My experience! Others may differ.

I actually don't need 5.1. But will this JVC/Pioneer play 5.1 DVDs?

AVX 33 cost me 19k in grey while DVH-6050 cost me 12k.

I already have a DVD(???) USB Transmitter(plays XVID, VOB & DIVX from USB) and a SONY HU. I just need to replace the HU with a good one. Actually I need a CD Drive only, but I can afford a DVD Drive like DVH-6050 if its sound quality is same as Pioneer CD Drives.

Jennifer,

What did you finally end up buying?. I am also in a dilemma whether to buy or not
the DVHP-6050UB. If you have already bought it, please let me know your experience with the same. BTW currently the MRP of the unit is 22k and the grey market price is 14.5 k in Hyderabad. Are you sure you were quoted 12k?

Thank you.

I have the JVC AVX 44 series DVD player and it plays all DVDs (including the 5.1) quite well. The SQ is quite good.

@ khan_sultan - are you able to play all region DVDs on the AVX44? Unless hacked, it shouldn't play Indian DVDs.

@BT. No man. It doesn't play the Indian DVD's. Only region 1 and region free DVD's and also self burned DVD's are played.

Region 5 dvd's don;t get read.

What I meant here was the sound part. someone in above posts mentioned something about the 5.1 etc etc part.

Khan,

Yes 16K seems to be a real good deal. Couple of months back when I had asked they said it was 17k, few days back the price they quoted was 19k and the reason for the increase they say is because of rupee value depreciating against the dollar. These dealers always find some new ways to rip us off. Anyways even at 17k I wasn't all that interested, so I said Thank you and left the place.
