I think IA makes 2 sub ranges;
A]
Luccent
B]
Carbon

I have used both.

Luccent - Blue - in my I-10

Carbon - Black - in my Swift

Electra Sub - No idea - have not seen or heard it as yet;

Illusion & JBL GTi Subs Discussion

If Illusion has their Carbon then JBL has their GTi. Which are again very different I agree. But at least don't compare entry level JBLs to Carbons.

My appologies. I compared two different products in two very different price ranges.

I have heard and seen a few JBL 12" car audio subs as well as the Illusions Lucent and Carbons. I had no idea as to the price of the products. I have mentioned many times before that I have no interest (and hence little knowledge) in/of prices and model numbers.

Hence it was entirely my error so will you gentlemen please accept my appologies and stop jumping at each other's throats?

From what I undertand so far
JBL GTi = Illusion Carbon in price then again both subs are very different in contruction, design and materials used (except for the afore mentioned rubber surrounds).

JBL GTO = Lucent Electra if the later did exist. The (circa 2005) website says it does, but B&T who is the local distributor is not so sure. The Lucent (if one were to consider other Lucent drivers) is a more conventional driver in that it does not have a NdFeB magnet in front of the cone but has a Strontium Ferrite Ring magnet with a underhung voice coil on the rear of the cone.

I think you and others are plotting to drive me nuts.

What is Lucent Electra?

And Lucent is not the one that has the conventional motor. Lucent is indeed inverted neo motor - a watered down version of the Carbon with VFPP cone and lighter on power handling.

I think so. This is an interesting thread that is totally hijacked from BULL.

By the way, how is Lucent Carbon different from Lucent Copper?

Thanks Bhagwan. The R&D head has made our life simple.

Let us give IA and JBL a break. Back to BULL and Beast.

B&T, I dont need help I can drive people nuts all by myself. In fact I believe I single handedly drove a few of you guys nuts by talking comparing motor construction a few posts ago.

I meant Illusion Electra.

We all should be so lucky - to get orders before the product's development has not even planned. :-)
